Flowers Under the Arch

Good morning!!  Can you guess how many A Colorful Life Designs stencils I used on this card??  I used seven stencils and the Amazing stamp set to create this summery nature scene.  From the top to the bottom, here are the stencils I used:

After I inked up the Layered Arches stencil, I covered up the bricks with the matching mask.  With that mask in place, I was able to stencil and stamp the entire scene.  After I took all the stencils and masks off, I added some die cut flowers.

Birthday Postage Flowers in Brown

Good morning, y'all!  I was in the mood for some florals, but I wanted to see how it would look in shades of brown.  Here in Texas, it's so hot and so dry that everything is turning brown.  It seems only fitting that I should make a monochromatic brown card, right?

I started by placing the mask from the 4.5" stencil of the Marvelous Masks Postage Stamp set from A Colorful Life Designs down onto some white cardstock.  I sponged a dark brown ink all around the edges of the mask, and then I carefully lifted the mask up.  See how the inside is still white?  That's the purpose of the mask.

I stamped and die cut some flowers with brown, kraft, and beige inks.  I used those same inks to stamp the sentiment and the postage on the stenciled panel.  After I arranged the flowers and glued them down, I added some enamel dots and adhered the panel to a white card base.

Floral Envelope Hello

Good morning!  Today's card is a fun and whimsical creation.  I used the new Stacked Blocks stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save 10%) and brushed a soft green ink over this stencil onto a pale green card base.  I eased up the pressure on the brush as I got to the edges of the card so that the stencil pattern would get softer and fade out.

Next, I used two cute little flower stamps from Ink Blot Shop and stamped it all over the green card with a green ink.  I also stamped the envelope filled with flowers (Ink Blot Shop) and colored it with Copic markers before fussy cutting it.  I adhered this stamped piece to the card with some foam tape, and then I added some Card Bling (a fun freebie bag of sequins that comes with every order from A Colorful Life Designs).

Amazing Harlequin

Good morning!  Today I have a clean and simple card to share with y'all.  I placed the new Messy Harlequin stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save 10%) onto a small panel of white cardstock.  After I brushed on some pink and orange inks, I glued this panel onto a white card base.  I added a thin strip of black cardstock next to the panel, and then I stamped the sentiment from the new Amazing stamp set with black ink.  Lastly, I added some black Card Bling, which is a fun little bag of freebie sequins that is included with every order from A Colorful Life Designs.

Glittery Amazing Armor

Good morning!  Today I've got a glittery card to share with y'all.  I used the new Armor stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save at checkout) as well as the new Amazing stamp set and some pretty Card Bling (a freebie that comes with every order from A Colorful Life Designs).

I placed the Armor stencil over some white cardstock and blended some pale blue ink at the top first.  Then I blended some purple ink at the bottom, and gradually eased up the pressure on my brush for a lighter touch as I got closer to the middle where the blue ink ended.  While the stencil was still in place, I spread some Star Dust Stickles over the whole panel and let it dry.  The sentiment from the Amazing set was stamped with the same purple ink that I used on the stencil and I trimmed it down and matted it with a purple cardstock.  After my stenciled panel was dry, I adhered the sentiment and some Card Bling and then glued the panel to a purple card base.

Christmas Dot Snowflake

Good morning!  There is a fun new Christmas Linky Party over on the BYSH Cardmaker's blog, and this is the first card that I'm entering into that challenge.  All you need to do is make a Christmas card (or Hanukkah or winter) and follow the rules listed over on the blog to enter it into the Linky party.  A Colorful Life Designs is one of the sponsors of this party, and you could win a prize if you share your creation.

For my card today, I used the Dot Snowflake stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save).  I placed the stencil over some pale blue cardstock, and then I spread some gorgeous glittery Luxe paste (from Picket Fence Studios) over the panel.  After the paste was completely dry, I trimmed the panel down and adhered it to a white card base.  Then I stamped the sentiment with black ink below my glittery snowflake panel.

Tribal Baskets

Good morning!  How about a wild tribal card today??  I had a lot of fun creating this card.  It's waaaaay outside my normal style, so I just went with the flow and came up with this.

I started by placing the new Wild Tribal stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save) over some mustard-y yellow cardstock.  I blended some rusty orange ink and some brown ink over the stencil , and then I blended a little bit of the orange zigzag pattern onto one of the baskets which was already stamped and die cut.  I cut some wild grasses and glued those to the back of the baskets.  The sentiment was embossed with copper powder and trimmed to fit onto the card before I added the baskets to the left side.

You don't have to use the stencils just to create backgrounds.  You can use them on your die cuts like I did here.  It's a fun way to tie a background and a side element together.

Brighter Flame Chevrons

Good morning!  Today's card is a fun mini slimline card that I created with the new Flame Chevron stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save).  I love the fine detailing on these chevrons, and I inked up this stencil with some red, orange, and yellow inks to really highlight the "flame" in the name.  The sentiment is from the Amazing stamp set, also from A Colorful Life Designs.

Pretty Tile stencil - Mid Month Motivation

On my first card above, I used four products from A Colorful Life Designs.  I masked off the center of the card with the mask from Marvelous Masks Postage Stamp set and sponged bright pink ink all around the edge the panel.  Then I removed the mask and placed a Marvelous Masks Rectangle stencil over the panel and placed the Pretty Tiles stencil over that.  Then I sponged the bright pink ink in the center of the panel over the two stencils.  The sentiment is from the Amazing stamp set.

On this card above, I went super clean and simple.  I placed the Pretty Tile stencil right on top of a white card and lightly stenciled a soft pink ink all over.  Then I stamped the large sentiment with black ink and I added some pink Card Bling (a fun freebie that comes with every order from A Colorful Life Designs).

On the card below, I placed the Pretty Tile stencil over some pink cardstock.  Then I sponged some Versamark ink over the panel and removed the stencil.  With a soft brush, I added some Pearl Perfect Pearls powder over the whole thing and misted it lightly with some water to help set the powder.  The sentiment is from the Amazing stamp set.

Kinkade Christmas Postage Stamp Card

Good morning!  How about a Christmas in July card today??  I used the new Marvelous Masks Postage Stamp stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (code HollyFan10) to create the frame for my scene.  This time, though, I used the actual mask instead of the stencil.

I placed the mask (the part that is cut out from the stencil) in the center of my white card.  Since I wanted to ink up the edges of my card, I couldn't tape the mask down, so I just carefully held it with my hand while I brushed some green ink all around the mask.  Then I used the same green ink on this Thomas Kinkade stamp and stamped it on a separate piece of white cardstock.  I also found the cute little 25 cent stamp and stamped that onto my Kinkade panel.  I trimmed the panel down just a tiny bit and then adhered it to my card.  This card is nice and flat, perfect for mailing with just one first-class stamp.

Grape Slushy Treat

Good morning!  I think it's time for an ice-cold slushie, right?  Here's a fun grape slushie card to cool you down.  

I placed the new Twisty Thing stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (code HollyFan10 to save) over a white card and taped it down.  Then I brushed on some purple ink and let it fade out towards the edges.  After I removed the stencil, I added this cute grape slushie that I stamped and colored (Ink Blot Shop).  The whimsical lines in the stencil reminded me of the fun twist on the top of the slushie so I thought they would pair well together.  I can't wait to send this to my sweet friend during this hot summer.

Distressed Harlequin Wildflowers

Hi, y'all!  I'm back today with this distressed floral card featuring the new Messy Harlequin stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (code HollyFan10 to save).  I love the grungy look of this new stencil, and I wanted to make a clean and simple, yet distressed, card.

I placed the Messy Harlequin stencil onto a kraft card and lightly brushed some kraft ink over the whole stencil.  I intentionally left some areas lighter and some areas darker.  After I removed the stencil, I stamped some floral silhouettes in shades of blues and browns all along the bottom of the card.  Then I stamped this sentiment from the new Amazing stamp set with a dark brown ink.

Amazing Landscape Arches

Good morning!  I'm back with a pretty landscape scene that I created with stencils and a stamp from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save).  That brick arch framing the landscape is a brand new stencil called Layered Arches and it comes with a matching mask so you can cover up the brick arch and create any kind of scene or background underneath the arches.

I couldn't resist pulling out all my landscape stencils and testing out the Layered Arches mask.  I started by placing the actual brick arches stencil down first and sponging on some brown/gray ink.  Then I removed the Layered Arches stencil and I placed the mask over the brick arches and taped it down.  I used the following stencils to create the mountains and tree lines in the distance (from top to bottom):

To complete the landscape scene, I brushed some soft blue ink across the top of the mountain and then I brushed some purple ink above the blue sky on up to the edge of the brick arches.  I carefully removed all the stencils and masks and let the inks dry completely.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the new Amazing stamp set with a black pigment ink, covered it with clear embossing powder, and melted it with a heat tool.  I trimmed the edges just slightly and then adhered this panel to a white card base.

Postage Stamp Collage - new stencil release

Good morning! Can you believe it's July??   A Colorful Life Designs has a new release today and it is full of great stencils and a new stamp set.  Use this code, HollyFan10, to save 10% off your entire order today.  There are so many wonderful stencils, I had a hard time choosing what to share with y'all today.  I decided to start off with the brand new Marvelous Masks Postage Stamp stencil sets.  There are actually two sets - one (set A) has regular sizes in one inch intervals - 2", 3", 4", and 5".  The other set (set B) has the "in-between" sizes, 2.5", 3.5", 4.5", and 5.5".  I love the flexibility of having all these different sizes of Postage Stamp stencils AND masks.

I pulled out the 2" Marvelous Masks Postage Stamp stencil from set A and stenciled over it with a green ink in the center.  Then I moved the stencil to the side and inked it up with a different ink.  I continued moving the stencil around, sometimes at a 90 degree angle, and I changed up the ink colors (light green, medium green, and darker green).  After I completed my fun Postage Stamp grid, I die cut some flowers and foliage and added those to the stenciled areas.
