My Kind of Crazy

Do you have that one friend that is as crazy as you?  I think we all do, and this card will be perfect to send to my sweet, goofy, nutty, and crazy friend.  I started by placing the Indian Blanket stencil from A Colorful Life Designs over some white cardstock and then I brushed three different colors over the stencil.  I used Coastal Cabana, Granny Apple Green, and Mango Melody inks from Stampin Up and I love how they blended together and created darker tones of the original colors.

I cut out the sentiment from the matching Mango cardstock and glued it to another piece that was cut from white cardstock.  If you look closely, you can see that I offset the two die cuts.  I wanted to give it that slight shadow effect and I wanted to help this stand out from my colorful background.

Don't you just love that quilt pattern?  Just think of all the different colors you could use.  Now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder how this would look with Christmas colors and a holiday sentiment.  That would be so neat!  I'll have to play with that this weekend.  Enjoy!

Putting My Foot Down

Hi friends!  Did you have a nice Monday?  It was a lonnnnnnng day of work for me, but I wanted to share this card with you before I crashed for the night.

This adorable flamingo stamp is called Foot Down from Technique Junkies.  I stamped this with Versafine Clair Nocturne and then brushed on three different shades of pink for an ombre effect.  I couldn't resist adding some rhinestones to the tiny little crown points.

The background is the awesome new Peacock Feathers stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  This is available at Technique Junkies so you can do some one-stop-shopping.  I simply laid the Peacock Feathers stencil over some white cardstock and brushed the same three colors of pink ink over that.  Is this card pink enough?  LOL!

You Made Me Smile

Happy Friday, everyone!  I'm back with my second card using the Lace Doily stencil from A Colorful Life Designs today.  Remember last week I used this stencil on a horizontal card and added pearls to make it look like a crown?  This time I went for a vertical card and I kept this one super simple.  I sponged some soft pink ink over the Lace Doily stencil directly onto a pink card and then stamped the "smile" with black ink.  The "you made me" was stamped with black ink onto white cardstock and then trimmed down and glued above the stamped "smile."

I thought about adding some black pearls or sequins but I wanted this one to be different from last week's card.  I found some black satin ribbon and tied it around the top.  This completes the card and the Rule of 3, as there are now three black components on my card.

Birthday Crown

Do you see what I see on my card today?  It looks like a crown, doesn't it?  It's actually the Lace Doily stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  I sponged some soft pink ink through the stencil onto some white cardstock, adhered the die cut sentiment, and then added the chocolate pearls to the points on the top.  After I looked at the pearls, the crown just popped out at me.  How cool is that?

I know you need this stencil now, so please feel free to use this code, HollyFan10, when you shop at A Colorful Life Designs.  I will be back with another card using this same stencil next week, so stay tuned!  Happy Friday!

Strong, Humble and Brave with Oxides

Did you see this fabulous new stamp from Technique Junkies during the July 2019 release blog hop last week?  This is called Strong, Humble and Brave.  Several of my friends are part of a Brave Girls club, and this message exemplifies what they are all about.  I wanted to have a fun multicolored background to go with this strong message.

I used some Distress Oxide inks and smooshed them onto my craft mat, and then I sprayed some water over the inks.  I laid a piece of photo paper - not glossy paper but actual photo paper - onto the inks and then lifted it off.  The photo paper captures the inks, but you can't see the vibrancy right away.  There is a cloudy film that is left on the paper by the oxide inks.  I used a baby wipe to remove the cloudy film and that's when the vibrant color of the inks exploded.

After my inky background was completely dry, I stamped this Strong, Humble and Brave with permanent black ink (Versafine Clair Nocturne).  It takes a while for this ink to dry on photo paper (about 5 or 10 minutes) so I set it aside before I smudged anything.  Once I was sure it was completely dry, I adhered it to my card.

Let the Sea Set You Free

I've got a very sparkly and glittery card to share with y'all today.  There's no such thing as too much sparkle, right?  With that in mind, I went crazy with some new glitter paint and this gorgeous Set You Free stencil from A Colorful Life.

The layout of the mermaid and the sentiment on the stencil is just a teeny bit too tall for a regular card, so I had to do some masking to make this fit.  I started by taping the stencil down onto some blue-green cardstock and I covered up the sentiment.  I spread the turquoise glitter paint onto the mermaid first, took the stencil off, and let it dry.  Then I placed the stencil where I wanted the sentiment and covered up the mermaid before spreading the glitter paint over the sentiment.  After that dried, I added the sequins.

That still wasn't sparkly enough for me, so I spread the same glitter paint over the edges of some white cardstock that was cut slightly larger than my mermaid panel.  After that dried, I glued my mermaid panel to the glittery cardstock and then glued that down to a white card.

This Set You Free stencil can be purchased at A Colorful Life Designs, and you can use this code, HollyFan10, to save 10% off your order.  The turquoise glitter paint can be found at Technique Junkies and you can save 10% by using TJ10Holly when you check out.

On this card above, I watercolored the gorgeous new Summer Bouquet with some Daniel Smith watercolor paints.  I added a light yellow wash around the edges and let it fade out.  The sentiment is from an older set called In Full Bloom Sentiments.

This seashell card was a joy to color.  I stamped this Zen Shells background with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored it with Copic markers.  The sentiment is from the By the Sea set, and I added some colored pearls all around the card.

Have fun checking out what the rest of the team has created with the new July release.
