Extraordinary Wildflowers

I felt like making a landscape type of card today, so I started by brushing various colors (greens, yellow, oranges, red, purple) of ink onto some white cardstock with the Ink Blending Brushes from Technique Junkies.  Then I stamped the Growing Wild stamp (Technique Junkies) with black ink right onto my inky background.  Lastly, I stamped the You Are Extraordinary  (Technique Junkies) with the same black ink onto some white cardstock, cut it out, and adhered it to the wildflower scene.  I'm in love with this card as these are the kind I like to make, full of color with silhouettes of nature.  :-)

Buffalo Plaid Birthday in Green

I was playing around with this Buffalo Plaid stencil from A Colorful Life Designs, and it is the perfect background for masculine cards.  I stenciled it with a dark green ink onto some kraft cardstock and I love how it looks on the kraft paper versus a stark white paper.  I used the same green ink to stamp the tree and the birthday sentiment.  Now I have a birthday card ready for a certain guy later on this summer.  Yay!

WWDB Amazing Birds in Oxides

Good morning, Junkies!  It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing this pastel creation that I made for this week's WWDB (What We Do Best) challenge.  This week we are making encouragement cards for the challenge, and the sentiments in the Modern Encouragements set are perfect for this.

I started by inking up the Bird and Letter Collage stamp with three different colors of Distress Oxide inks.  You have to be a little brave and not worry about getting other colors on your ink pads when you do this.  I just randomly dabbed some pink here, then some blue there and some green (actually Old Paper) there.  Some of the colors did cross over and get onto the ink pads, but I don't mind.  I figure I can always reink them if they get too muddy.  While I had the Bird and Letter Collage stamp out, I inked it up again with the Old Paper Distress Oxide ink and pressed it an angle onto my envelope.

Since the image looked a little aged, I thought it would be nice to add some soft beige sponging around the piece.  I sponged some Antique Linen Oxide on first, and then some Walnut Stain Oxide.  The sentiment from the Modern Encouragements set was stamped with Pinecone Versafine Clair ink and I inked the edges of the paper with the Pinecone ink.  Then I pulled out my distress tool (remember those??) and roughed up the edges for that aged, distressed look.

Come play along in our #WWDB challenge over on the Technique Junkies Facebook page.  Just made an encouragement card using Technique Junkies stamps and decorate an envelope to go with it.  Use the hashtag #WWDB so we can find your card.  You could win $50 from Technique Junkies just for playing along!

You Are Mermazing

I absolutely love this brand new Mermazing stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. Isn't that awesome? I sprayed the background with two colors of shimmer spray (Miami Vice and Harvest Sunset Shimmering Bliss from Technique Junkies) and then mixed two colors of shimmery colored glaze to spread over the Mermazing stencil. I used a little bit of Leaf Green and some Ocean Poppy Paper Glaze from Picket Fence Studios and mixed them together before I applied it to the stencil. I'm in love with this Mermazing stencil, and there are so many people I can mail this card to. I better get busy making 50 more of these, huh?

For my first card today, I stamped the cute new A Little Black Cat with permanent black ink.  I stamped it again on a sticky note and made a mask to cover up the kitty.  Then I placed the Paws stencil from A Colorful Life Designs over the bottom half of the card and very softly brushed some pale blue ink through the stencil.

The next five cards were a joy to create.  I used the new Forget Me Nots background stamp on all of them, matching the color of the ink to the color of the cardstock.  Then I used a darker shade of the respective colors to stamp the sentiments from the new Five Fab Phrases set.  This sentiment set is a definite MUST HAVE for your stamping collection.  Look at all the different greetings I was able to use on these five cards.
