Daisy Trio

Good morning!  I'm popping in today with this fun daisy trio card that I created with the Flower Mist stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  The Flower Mist stencil is so versatile.  I used three different colors of ink (pale pink, hot pink, and purple) over this stencil and then cut the pieces down into small rectangles.  It's fun to see the different sections of this stencil highlighted with different colors.

Pink Potholder Hello

Good morning!  It's a beautiful day out there, so nice and cool and sunny after being gray and rainy all day yesterday.  Everything is so green!!

I thought I would share this sweet card I made with the Potholder stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  I placed it over some pink cardstock, brushed pink ink over the stencil, and then added the white strip with the sentiment and some black satin ribbon.

This is a quick and easy card to make when you want to have some non-holiday cards ready to mail.  I have a friend who loves to wear stylish hats and her personality is larger than life.  I think I'll surprise her with this cute card.

Distressed Boho She Believed

Good morning!  Here's a colorful card to gaze upon while you drink your coffee (or tea or water).  I stamped the wonderfully versatile Boho Dots Background from Technique Junkies onto some white cardstock.  Then I pulled out some Colorful Blending Brushes and some yellow, blue, and pink ink pads and applied color to the stamped background.  Look closely and you'll see where some of the ink color lifted - that's where I flung some water over the card with my fingers.  This Boho Dots Background is perfect for distressed techniques like this.

The sentiment, She Believed She Could, was stamped with black ink and matted with some black cardstock.  I really didn't want to cover up the colorful background so I kept this card very simple.

Hope in the Meadow

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing a card I created with the new In the Meadow stamp from Technique Junkies.  This gorgeous floral stamp is so fine and delicate and perfect for ink-blended backgrounds.  That's what I've done here on this card.  I used the Colorful Blending Brushes and several different colors of inks to blend a soft dreamy background onto some white cardstock.  I stamped the In the Meadow with black ink onto my ink-blended background, trimmed it down, and added a die cut scallop frame around that.  Then I stamped the "Hope" sentiment from the Dream Hope Wish Wonder set and trimmed it down, added some foam tape to the back and adhered it to my landscape.  This landscape scene was affixed to a white card base.

Please feel free to use this code, TJ10Holly, to save 10% off your order when you shop at Technique Junkies.  You can fill up your cart with this gorgeous In the Meadow stamp, the beautiful Blooming Wildflowers background stamp (another favorite), some sentiments, the brushes, and some colorful Catherine Pooler ink pads.  You'll be all set to create some gorgeous cards!  Have a great day!

Rainbow Daisy Birthday

Good morning!  Yesterday was a perfect spring day and today promises to be similar, so I wanted to share a happy rainbow card with you this morning.  I used the Daisy Bouquet stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and brushed on some pink, yellow, and blue distress inks.  You're probably thinking that I forgot to list the orange and green inks, but no.  I didn't use any.  Since yellow and blue make green and yellow and red make orange, there's no need for the extra colors.  I just made sure to overlap the colors and like magic, the green and orange appear just like that.

I stamped the sentiment from Taylored Expressions with a black ink (Nocturne Versafine Clair) and placed it on the card with some foam tape.  I love this cute and easy card!

Please feel free to use this code, HollyFan10, when you shop for stencils at A Colorful Life Designs.  You'll save 10% off your entire order, so have fun shopping!  Enjoy your weekend!

Geometric Dude

Here is another card I've created with that fabulous Mid Century Geometric stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  I love how this one turned out, and I can't wait to try this again with different colors.

As you can see, I used colored pencils with the Mid Century Geometric stencil.  I placed the stencil onto a kraft card base (that's right - no layers!), and colored in each of the half circles with a colored pencil.  I selected three colors, a beige, a darker brown, and a turquoise.  These particular pencils are Luminance pencils - so creamy and buttery, and they don't break like the Prismacolor pencils tend to do.

I totally zoned out while coloring in each half circle on this card.  It's so fun and easy and relaxing.  Think of all the different colors you could use!  I die cut the letters from white cardstock and glued them right onto the card.  I love this card so much, I think I'm going to give this to my hubby for his birthday.  That way it will still be here and I can look at it from time to time.  LOL

Distressed Geometric Smile

Good morning!  I'm back with another card that I created using the Mid Century Geometric stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  This stencil is so versatile and I've had so much fun discovering all the different ways to use it.

Here, I placed the Mid Century Geometric stencil onto some white cardstock and taped down the edges.  Then I used my finger (yes, my finger!) to apply some white gesso over the stencil.  I wasn't going for a perfect application of gesso; rather, I wanted that messy, distressed look, so that's why I used my finger.  After the gesso dried, I sprayed some Glimmer Mists (a pale green color, a pink color, and a plum color) over the piece.  While the paper was still wet from the Glimmer Mists, I scrunched it up into a ball and then unfurled it.  I set this aside to dry completely while I worked on the card base and the sentiment.

For the sentiment, I sprayed the pale green Glimmer Mist onto some scrap paper, and then I sprayed the plum Glimmer Mist onto another scrap and let those dry.  I cut out the "smile" sentiment and the shadow with the matching dies from Honey Bee Stamps and then I stamped the coordinating sentiment with a blackberry ink.  The card base is a deep blackberry color, and I adhered the stenciled piece with glue.  I did not flatten the stenciled piece down.  I actually left all the cool distressed areas intact so this card has a very bumpy and uneven texture.  I love the contrast of this texture with the soft shimmery colors.

Batman Confidence

Good morning!  How about a Bat Signal to wake you up today?  LOL  I used the new Batman T-shirt stamp from Technique Junkies to create these two cards today.  Isn't that a great sentiment?

I went with the classic Bat Signal look for my first card up above.  I stamped the sentiment onto some yellow cardstock, cut it out with an oval die, and adhered it to a black card base.

For my second card below, I glued down some blue, red, and yellow strips of cardstock to my black card base.  Then I stamped the Batman T-shirt sentiment onto white cardstock and trimmed it into a rectangular shape.  This is a great option if you don't have oval dies.

You can check out the April release stamps here.  Please feel free to use this code, TJ10Holly, to save 10% when you shop at Technique Junkies.  You can pick up this awesome Batman T-shirt stamp as well as my two new favorites, Blooming Wildflowers and In the Meadow.  Come on back next Tuesday (April 19) and I'll share a card I created with the In the Meadow stamp.  Have a great day!

Geometric Doodles

I'm back with another card that I created with the Mid Century Geometric stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  Here, I've traced the half circles from the stencil with a fine black Sharpie marker and then I doodled in the inside of each half circle.  Is this doodling or zentangling?  I just let my mind wander as I worked in each section.  It's a fun way to escape from reality for a while!

I cut my doodled piece down to fit onto the bottom half of a white card and added a narrow strip of black cardstock above that.  Then I stamped the sentiment from Ink Blot Shop above the black strip.  I love the stark look of this black and white card.

Geometric Birthday

This new Mid Century Geometric stencil from A Colorful Life Designs is a wonderful assemblage of half circles in an abstract pattern.  I've got three more cards using this stencil that I will be sharing with you over the next few days.  I was having so much fun pairing this stencil with all kinds of different mediums, and I can't wait to share them with you.

On this card today, I blended some green, yellow, and blue inks over this Mid Century Geometric stencil and added a birthday sentiment.  I love the graphic look with the soft blending - such a fun study in contrasts.

Please feel free to use this code, HollyFan10, when you shop for stencils at A Colorful Life Designs.  You can see all of the new stencils for this month HERE.  Come on back tomorrow to see what I've done with this stencil and a black Sharpie marker.  Have a wonderful day!

Laugh with Wildflowers

Good morning!  I created this card using a scrap piece for the background.  I had done something for another card and there was some blue ink left over on my glass mat.  It was quite a bit, and I didn't want to waste it, so I smooshed some white cardstock down into it until it filled the paper.  I love how some areas are more white and some areas are more blue.

After this blue panel was completely dry, I stamped it with the gorgeous new Blooming Wildflowers stamp from Technique Junkies.  I used Versamark ink and some white embossing powder, and after I melted the powder with a heat tool, the wildflowers really popped out against the blue background.  It's so delicate and gorgeous.  I love this background stamp!

I used the Laugh sentiment from the Inside Out: Size Matters set (Technique Junkies) and stamped it with the same blue ink I used on the background.  To help it stand out a little bit, I added a scalloped circle behind the sentiment which was inked on the edges with the same blue ink as the sentiment.

All of the new April release stamps are on sale at 15% off through April 8, no code needed.  That includes both the Blooming Wildflowers and the Inside Out: Size Matters stamps that I've used today.  You can see all of the new April release stamps here.

Red and White Graduation

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing this quick and easy graduation card.  We are coming up on the graduation season and we will need some cards on hand.  Here, I've used the colors of a local high school to customize this for someone graduating this year.

I used the new Grad Hands stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and brushed some red ink over the stencil onto some white cardstock.  I added a die cut sentiment and adhered the panel to a red card base.

This will be an easy card to replicate in all kinds of different colors.  Use the school colors of the person who is graduating for a personalized touch.  Whether it is kindergarten, high school, or college, this will be a sweet card for that special person.

I Wish We Lived Closer

Good morning!  A Colorful Life Designs has released some great new stencils for April and I've used two of them on this card today.  I started by brushing on different colors into each of the houses from the Row of Houses stencil, and then I brushed some black ink onto the coordinating doors and windows from the same Row of Houses stencil.  The sentiment, called Closer, was brushed with some black ink directly above the houses.

If you are like me and you just gotta have 'em all, there is a special Master Creator Bundle where you can get all of the new April 2022 stencils at a discount for only $83.86.  There is a great mix of graduation stencils, geometric stencils, and some houses and sentiments in this bundle.

This month has some gorgeous floral stamps, a puppy, and lots of sentiments.  If you're like me and you "Gotta Have it All," here is a great deal for you.  You can get all of the April release stamps for just $90.64.  What a great price for all of these stamps!  Here's a little picture of all of the release stamps:

For my first card today, I used the gorgeous new Wisteria Background.  I stamped the Wisteria Background with Versamark and covered it with white embossing powder.  After I tapped off the excess powder, I melted it with a heat tool.  Then I used the Colorful Blending Brushes and some distress inks to add some pink, purple, and blue colors to the gorgeous floral background.  The sentiment was stamped with purple ink and it is from the Dream Hope Wish Wonder set (previously released).

My second card today uses the new Ruff Life stamp featuring this adorable puppy holding some slippers in his mouth.  I stamped this with a brown ink and then colored this with Copic markers.  So cute!

My third card today uses two of the new floral stamps.  The sentiment image is called Born to Garden, and I used the new Blooming Wildflowers in the background.  I created this one a bit differently.  I actually blended some distress inks onto some white cardstock first, then I stamped the Blooming Wildflowers with Versamark.  I covered this with some shimmery clear embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and melted the powder with a heat tool.

For the sentiment, I stamped the Born to Garden with a black pigment ink (Versafine Clair Nocturne) onto some vellum.  Then I poured some black embossing powder over the vellum while the ink was still wet, tapped off the excess, and melted it very carefully with a heat tool.  I then cut a piece of double-sided adhesive sheet to the same size as the vellum, attached it to the back of the embossed vellum, and adhered this to my wildflower background.  This is the easiest way to adhere vellum so you don't see any glue or tape through the vellum.
