Dwell in Possibility

Hi folks!  The Technique of the Week over in the Technique Junkies Yahoo group is Embossed Gelatos, and I love love love any excuse to play with my gelatos. They are so much fun to color with! I used three colors to create my background - Bubble Gum, Guava, and Lavender. I wish you could see the wonderful shimmer on my card - it's so pretty.

I pulled out a wooden flower embellishment, and it occurred to me that I should try the gelatos on that. So I scribbled all three of the same colors on the wooden flower and then sprayed it with a shimmer spray and let it dry. It worked beautifully! I love happy discoveries like that! :-)

The background stamp is from Cornish Heritage Farms and the sentiment is from Rogue Redhead Designs (new set called This 'n That).  Love that gorgeous sentiment!!  The wooden flower is a Prima embellishment. You can find the directions for the Embossed Gelatos technique in the April/May 2013 issue of Technique Junkies

The challenge over on the Rogue Redhead Designs blog is flowers - either stamped or an embellishment.  I did both!  LOL  You can see the wooden flower embellishment that I used the gelatos on, and there are flowers in the background stamp that I used as well.  :-)  The challenge ends tomorrow so I'm getting this entered just in the nick of time.

Rogue Redhead Designs is having a fabulous sale on all their stamps right now, so head on over and stock up!  I've got my eye on some backgrounds that are calling my name.  :-)  (I don't work for Rogue Redhead Designs - I'm just a happy customer.)

Happy Birthday, Technique Junkies! Blog Hop

Good morning and welcome to the Birthday Blog Hop for Technique Junkies!  Technique Junkies is 10 years old this month - whoo hoo!  Ten years of Technique Junkies newsletters and CDs means hundreds and hundreds of fun techniques for us to incorporate into our paper crafting projects.

If you have arrived here from Ann Clack's blog, you are on the right track.  If not, please start at the first blog in the hop, the Technique Junkies blog, so you don't miss any of the awesome creations we are sharing with y'all today.  Didn't you just love what Ann created??  She always does beautiful work for the newsletters, the CDs, and the Yahoo group.

For my project today, I had a really hard time picking just one technique to play with.  There are so many that I consider my favorite technique, such as Wisped Frames, Torn Frames, Circle Collage Background, Faux Silk, Popped Blooms, Watercolor Distress, Telescoping Cards, Glitter Roll, Rubbed Gelatos, and the list goes on and on...  :-)  I decided I wanted to make a Christmas card, but with non-traditional colors, and after looking at this angel stamp, I picked the Antiqued Glimmers technique (12-09 issue) for my project today.

I love the gorgeous swirls of purple hues with the angel and the snowflakes.  You can see the subtle shimmer from this technique in this close-up picture below:

Isn't that awesome?  And with this technique, you can use any colors you want.  The possibilities are endless!  I accented some of the snowflakes with some rhinestones to intensify the shimmery aspect of my card.  The stamp credits and information are listed at the end of this post.

Now for the BIG NEWS!  Be sure to comment on each and every blog in this hop for a chance to be the new Guest Designer for an issue of Technique Junkies!!!!  It's an incredible honor and privilege to be a Guest Designer.  You'll see the newest techniques two months before the issue goes live and your artwork and your name will be in print!!  It's an awesome feeling to see your name and your creations immortalized in the Technique Junkies issues.

It's time for you to hop along to the next blog, so let's go see what Pat Huntoon (the owner of Technique Junkies) has created for you today.  Click HERE to go to Pat's blog.  Remember to leave comments on each blog to increase your chances of becoming our new Guest Designer!  Happy Birthday, Technique Junkies!!

CHF Challenge #7 - Animals

There is a new challenge over on the Cornish Heritage Farms blog.  This one focuses on animals, so bring out all your CHF stamps - rubber and digi - and make a card or project with an animal on it.  :-)

For my card, I used the Deer Woodland Scene digi from Cornish Heritage Farms.  I watercolored it using an aquapainter and ink refills.  Once it was dry, I sponged the edges with a brown ink.  The sentiment is from the Ornamental Beauty (rubber) set.  I sponged some yellow ink over it and then edged it with some brown ink.

We'd love to have you play along with us over on the Cornish Heritage Farms blog.  Share your creation with us for a chance to win some spending money in the CHF store!  :-)  Need more inspiration?  Check out what my fellow DT gals created for this challenge today:

CHF Challenge #6 - Black, White, and ...

Good morning, stampers!  It's time for another challenge on the Cornish Heritage Farms blog, and this time it's a color challenge.  The colors are Black, White, and one color of your choice.  I decided to go with Black, White, and Yellow for my card today.  Fun, happy, summery colors!

I stamped the Gingham backgrounder with yellow ink onto white cardstock and then I adhered a honeycomb/hexagon die cut over my gingham background.  The "Bee Happy" sentiment is a CHF digi, and it is just perfect to go with this "honeycombed" background.  Some pretty yellow ribbon finishes off my card along with some Stickles on the bee wings.  :-)

We'd love to have you play along with us over on the Cornish Heritage Farms blog.  Share your creation with us for a chance to win some spending money in the CHF store!  :-)  Need more inspiration?  Check out what my fellow DT gals created for this challenge today:

CHF Challenge #5 - Summer

It's time for a new challenge on the Cornish Heritage Farms blog, and this is a FUN one.  This challenge is all about SUMMER!  Now, admittedly, summer is NOT my favorite season, because I don't like the heat.  But it is fun to stay in the air conditioning while making some brightly colored summery cards, isn't it?  :-)

For my card, I stamped the Denim background stamp with blue ink onto some white cardstock, and then I cut out four layers of waves with a die.  These layers are popped up with foam squares onto some fun patterned paper from Echo Park.  Next, I drew a surfboard onto some more patterned paper and cut it out with scissors.  I printed out the Cow 1 digi, colored it a little bit with Copic markers, cut it out, and then stuck him onto the surfboard.  How cute is that??  LOL
Immediately, the word "cowabunga" came to mind, so I used a black marker and wrote it onto some white cardstock and cut it out.  Some die cut clouds on the other side is all I needed to finish this fun little summer scene.

Come play along with this Summer challenge on the Cornish Heritage Farms blog!  We'd love to see what you create!  Need more inspiration?  Please check out what the rest of the Design Team created:

CHF Challenge #4 - Birthday

It's that time again  - a new challenge is up on the Cornish Heritage Farms blog!  This time we have been challenged to create a birthday card or tag.  I've gone with a birthday card, but mine is a masculine birthday as opposed to a girly, feminine birthday card.

I started out by stamping the Denim backgrounder with some Saffron ink onto white cardstock.  You can see the Denim background in the close-up picture below:

I then pulled out my Antiques stamp set and A Time to Stamp set and randomly stamped the clocks and keys all over the background with red and brown inks.  The sentiment is from A Time to Stamp and I thought that was a wonderful sentiment for a birthday card.  The inside of the card has a "Happy Birthday" sentiment from an older CHF set (not currently available in the store).

Play along in this fun challenge - we'd love to see what you create!  Go to the Cornish Heritage Farms blog to enter your creation.  There is a fantastic prize for a lucky player!  Need more inspiration?  Check out what my fellow CHF design team members have created for this CHF challenge.

CHF Challenge #3 - Pearls and Lace

It's time for another challenge over on the Cornish Heritage Farms blog, and this time we are playing with Pearls and Lace.  I went for a shabby chic feel  for my card today.  I pulled out my French Script Backgrounder and stamped it with rose ink onto some vanilla cardstock, then I rubbed a kraft ink pad over it and scrunched it up.

For the bottom half of my card, I rubbed kraft ink onto kraft cardstock and scrunched that up and let it dry.  Once both pieces of my background were dry, I glued them together and then adhered two layers of of ivory lace.  Some rose cardstock was used to cut out a doily, and I used a hot glue gun to adhere three strands of pearl beads.  I wanted to use the pearl beads instead of traditional half-pearls, and these add a great swinging movement to my card.

The medallion is from the Antiques stamp set, and I stamped it with rose ink onto vanilla cardstock.  Once the rose ink was dry, I rubbed a kraft inkpad over the medallion and scrunched it up for the same aged effect as I used on the French Script background piece.

Wanna play along?  Share your creation with pearls and lace over on the CHF blog for a chance to win a cool prize!  Need more inspiration?  Check out what my fellow CHF design team members have created:

CHF Challenge #2 - Baby Boy Congratulations

Have you seen the newest challenge on the Cornish Heritage Farms blog today?  This challenge is Just for Baby - so make a baby card, a gift box for baby, a baby shower invitation, anything that focuses on babies!

I decided to make a blue card to congratulate a friend on her new baby boy.  Isn't that stork just adorable??  I saw that in the Cornish Heritage Farms store (digital stamps section), and I just knew I had to play with this one.  I printed it out and colored it with Copic markers and then fussy cut it.

The background is stamped with one of my favorite backgrounders - Denim.  I loaded up a brayer with Marina Mist ink and rolled it all over the Denim backgrounder stamp, then stamped it on some white cardstock.  The stork is adhered to this background with dimensionals, and I added the die cut letters that spell out Congrats!

Play along in this fun challenge - we'd love to see what you create!  Go to the Cornish Heritage Farms blog to enter your creation.  There is a fantastic prize for a lucky player!  Need more inspiration?  Check out what my fellow CHF design team members have created for this first CHF challenge.

CHF Challenge #1 - Anything Goes

Hey folks!  Cornish Heritage Farms is starting their new challenges over on their blog, and their first one is up today.  The theme for this first challenge is Anything Goes.

I pulled out various CHF backgrounders and stamp sets and had fun just putting different things together to see what I liked.  I ended up with this fun pink and blue butterfly card.

I started off by stamping the Denim backgrounder with two different pink inks (Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose). I used the darker pink denim on the background of my card, and I die cut a butterfly from the lighter pink denim cardstock.  I sponged some Antique Linen ink around the edges of the butterfly - going with the shabby chic feel.

I made a rosette from some Cosmo Cricket patterned paper and adhered the butterfly to the top of that.  The sentiment is from CHF's Ornamental Beauty, and I folded and cut it into a banner to go over the butterfly.  Some blue polka dot paper was added to the bottom of the card background and I punched a couple of butterflies from the same paper to go up above on the pink denim section.

Play along in this fun challenge - we'd love to see what you create!  Go to the Cornish Heritage Farms blog to enter your creation.  Need more inspiration?  Check out what my fellow CHF design team members have created for this first CHF challenge.

Window Planter and Brick Wall - CHF

Good evening, folks! I've been sick for the past week, which is why it's been so quiet on my blog. I'm hoping I've turned the corner and I'm finally on the mend now. Unfortunately, my hubby may have caught whatever I've had. Poor guy! I hope he doesn't come down with it!

I wanted to share a new CHF card with ya tonight. CHF is my shorthand for Cornish Heritage Farms. We just had a big release party a little over a week ago, and all the new rubber stamps are up in their store now. I've used two of the awesome backgrounders on this card - Brick Wall and Wood Grain.

I used the Wood Grain backgrounder on the little window planter and then I added some leaves and flowers to the planter. The Brick Wall backgrounder is stamped on the dark red cardstock with a brown ink and then I sponged a little more around the edges. I die cut the window and added some blue patterned paper to simulate wallpaper inside the window.

This is a fun little scene I've had in my head ever since I saw the Brick Wall backgrounder. :-) Wouldn't it be fun to do this for all four seasons? Think about it - some leaves all over the place for fall, some snow and maybe a wreath in the window for winter.... The brick wall can be any color as well - cream, classic brick red, brown, white..... so many possibilities!

I hope you have enjoyed this fun little window scene! Have a wonderful week!

"First 24 Special" - receive 15% off all orders that are placed within the first 24 hours of the release.

Be sure to leave a comment on everyone’s blog as you travel from blog to blog for your chance to win some Cornish Heritage Farms blog candy. You have 24 hours to leave your comments on each blog to be eligible for the prizes.

I've got two cards to share with you today. My first card has the wonderful new Denim Backgrounder stamped in blue. I then pulled out an elegant flourish from the gorgeous new Beautiful set and stamped it with dark brown ink directly on the Denim background. The sentiment is from the new Ornamental Beauty set. I used a Watercolor Distress technique (from Technique Junkies) on some white cardstock and die cut the flowers. Some baker's twine is threaded through a dark brown button and adhered to the center of the flowers.

For my second card, I've pulled out my favorite Gingham Backgrounder and stamped it in a bright sunny yellow. The flowers and the sentiment are digital stamps that are available in the CHF store. I printed out the Floral 11 and the Be Happy digital stamps and colored them with Copic markers. I added some Star Dust Stickles to the bee's wings and to the yellow centers of the purple flowers. Some purple satin ribbon balances out this happy, sunny card.

All of the stamps that I've noted in bold are new rubber stamps, and they are available in the CHF store right now. Once you've finished going through the blog hop and left your comments, head on over to the store to go shopping and take advantage of the 15% off special!

I've stamped the Gingham Backgrounder with olive ink onto some naturals white cardstock. I created a fun banner with designer paper and some silk flowers in purple hues. I stamped the ladies with Rich Cocoa Memento ink and colored them in with Copic markers. The edges are sponged with Antique Linen distress ink (Wisped Frames technique from Technique Junkies), and I added pearls and some soft silk ribbon. Don't you love the vintage feel of these ladies?

Good morning! Today is the second day of sneak peeks for the new Cornish Heritage Farms April 2012 stamp release! When CHF opened their doors last year, they started with digis in their store. For my card today, I've gone with a shabby chic, vintage, Parisienne style. All the stamps on this card are from the Haute Couture set - a rubber stamp set that will be in the CHF store on Thursday evening. The fleur de lis, the Eiffel Tower, and the Paris sentiment are all part of this set. If you look closely, I added the fleur de lis to the background as well as to the right of the tower. I love how it just blends right in and looks like it is part of the designer paper.

Come on back tomorrow to see what I'm sneak peeking next. You just "might" see some more stamps from this new Haute Couture set. *wink* I'll be sneak peeking Tuesday and Wednesday, and then we will have a fun blog hop on Thursday evening. You don't want to miss any of the gorgeous artwork!

CHF April Sneak Peek Day 1 - new rubber releases!!!

Good morning! Today is the first day of sneak peeks for the new Cornish Heritage Farms April 2012 stamp release! When CHF opened their doors last year, they started with digis in their store. * Don’t forget to check out all the Cornish Heritage Farms Design Team’s blogs for more sneak peeks everyday! I have a complete list at the end of this blog post. :-)

For my card today, I'm combining a red rubber background stamp with a fun CHF digi stamp. I've stamped the background of my card with the Woodgrain backgrounder - a rubber stamp that will be in the CHF store on Thursday evening. The cute treehouse is one of the Mushroom Lane digis (#51) and I've colored it with Copic markers. The edges are distressed and I've use the Torn Frames technique (from Technique Junkies) to give it a bit more texture. Some bright red buttons provide a nice pop of color to echo the tiny ladybugs in the digital image. :-)

Come on back tomorrow to see what I'm sneak peeking next. Will it be another backgrounder or one of the stamp sets?? Hmmmmmm??? I'll be sneak peeking Monday through Wednesday, and then we will have a fun blog hop on Thursday evening. You don't want to miss any of the gorgeous artwork!

Belli Challenge #124 - Gingham

Hey folks! It's been a while since I played in the Belli Challenges, and I couldn't pass up this one. Today's challenge is all about gingham and I love me some gingham! :-)

I've got a mix of stamp companies on this card, and you might recognize my beloved Fine Gingham backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms on here. I stamped it with olive ink and cut it into smaller strips for this card. The red background is the Embossed Image technique from Technique Junkies, and I've used the Sanded background from Stampin Up on there. The adorable bear holding the sunflower is a new digi from Sweet N Sassy Stamps called Rhubarb's Sunflower.

I colored the bear with Copic markers and then I used the Out of the Nesties box to cut it out with an oval die. I distressed it a little bit with some Walnut Stain ink and a distressing tool. Then I used that same distressing tool on all the other cardstock pieces - it almost looked like it was snowing in here! LOL

Go check out the Belli Challenge and play along with us! We'd love to see what you create!

Stamps: Rhubarb's Sunflower (Sweet N Sassy Stamps), Sanded (Stampin Up), Fine Gingham (Cornish Heritage Farms)
Ink: Walnut Stain, Olive, Riding Hood Red

Faux Tile Birthday

A few weeks ago, I saw a challenge on SCS to create something using a Faux Tile technique, and I just had to try this out. I pulled out my old CHF backgrounders and sentiments and put this card together.

This card was mailed to a friend who actually shares the same birthday as mine - my "twin!" We've never met, and we are a few years apart in age, but we are still birthday twins. :-) I didn't want to post this until well after she had received her card, and I know it is safe to post it now.

I am sharing another Cornish Heritage Farms creation with you today. There are a lot of CHF cards that I haven't shared on my blog yet, so you'll be seeing some from time to time.

This card would be nice to give to a man who is going through a rough time. I like this turtle - the distressed/grungy yet realistic look is wonderful. The patterned paper from Basic Grey is just too perfect with this turtle, don't you think?

Here is another Christmas card I created several months ago. I love paper piecing Kim Hughes' stamps (from Cornish Heritage Farms), and it is easy when you can pull out several different patterned papers and have fun stamping and cutting trees. For a touch of whimsy, I added the little pom poms. Can you tell I was having fun putting this card together? :-)

Silent Night Tiles

This is a Christmas card that I created several months ago before Cornish Heritage Farms closed down. This gorgeous pink snowflake paper was stamped with the Aged Sheet Music scrapblock and then cut into squares to form a little tiled background. I added some tiny chocolate pearls to the centers of the snowflakes.

I'm enjoying this gorgeous cool fall weather this weekend! It seemed like it was never going to get here, didn't it?? Ahhhhhhhh loving these cool mornings....... ahhhhhhh....... Christmas won't be too far behind now! :-)
