TLC988 Embossed Feather Fire

Good morning, y'all!  Today I'm sharing a card I made for yesterday's TLC (Technique Lover's) challenge over on SCS.  My friend Karen came up with an awesome technique combining embossing folders and stencils, and it's so fun and easy.

First, I ran a panel of white cardstock through my machine with an old embossing folder from Martha Stewart.  Karen's instructions said to place your stencil over the embossed side, but I wanted to see how it looked on the other side (the debossed side).  I'm a rebel!  LOL  I placed the Feather Fire stencil from A Colorful Life Designs down on the debossed panel and brushed some yellow and green inks over the whole piece.  After I removed the stencil, I lightly sprayed it with some gold glitter spray.

The sentiment, from the Amazing set at A Colorful Life Designs, was stamped with a dark black ink and affixed with some foam tape.  The embossed and stenciled panel was glued down to a white card and it's ready for mailing after I write a note inside.

Webby Floral Note

Good morning!  It's a cold and gray day here this Saturday morning, so I need a colorful spring bouquet to brighten up my day.  I placed the Webby Mask stencil from A Colorful Life Designs over a white card and very softly brushed some pale purple ink in the center.  I gently brushed the color out from the center just a bit but not all the way to the edges of the card.  This floral ephemera was added with foam tape to the center of my stenciled card.  The sentiment, from Ink Blot Shop, was stamped with the pale purple ink and trimmed with scissors and affixed to the card with foam tape.

Hello Friend in Soft Florals

Good morning!  We have had a soggy, wet, rainy week here, but hopefully we will see some sunshine this weekend.  Meanwhile, I have this soft floral card to share with y'all today.

The new Layered Mixed Flower stencil set from A Colorful Life Designs is such a gorgeous floral set!  This time I went with some soft pastel colors for the flowers and the leaves, and I did a little bit of pink shading on the buttery yellow flowers.  This stencil set makes it so easy to brush on one color at a time without the need to mask off the leaves or the centers of the flowers.  I added a sentiment from Concord & 9th stamped in the same sage green color I used on the leaves.

Good morning!  Today's card is sweet and simple, featuring the new Blowing Wishes stencil set from A Colorful Life Designs.  I started by placing the scattered hearts stencil down onto some white cardstock, and I brushed some red ink over that in an ombre with the darkest red color at the bottom and getting lighter towards the top.  Then I placed the stencil with the hand underneath the red hearts and brushed some pale brown ink over that.  The sentiment, from the Spread Love stamp set, was stamped with black ink right onto the stenciled hearts.  This panel was then adhered to a red card base.  This is a sweet card to mail to anyone for any occasion.

Big Wing Hugs

Good morning!  It is freezing here in Texas, and we will be below freezing temps all week.  Brrrrrrr!  I'm ready for some spring weather!

Today I'm sharing the second card that I created with the new Wing Close Up stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  This is a gorgeous stencil and I wanted to use it in a way that would show off the beautiful iridescence that you see on dragonfly wings.  I brushed some pale blue and green inks over the stencil onto some white cardstock first.  While the stencil was still taped down, I then spread some iridescent paste (Picket Fence Studios) over the entire piece.  Then I removed the stencil and let the panel dry completely.  Meanwhile, I brushed some blue ink onto a scrap piece of white cardstock and then covered it with the same iridescent paste and set it aside to dry.  When this blue piece was completely dry, I die cut the sentiment, glued it to a vellum shadow, and affixed it to the wing background.  This panel was then adhered to a white card base.

Good morning!  A Colorful Life Designs snuck a new stencil into the store several weeks ago, and I love this new Wing Close Up stencil.  I've been doing some of the classes from Understand Blue, and one of them is this fun technique with a stencil and some powdered watercolors.  I used the new Wing Close Up stencil and some powders from Paper Artsy called Infusions and I got this bold plum and scarlet coloring on my background.  I added a dragonfly that I white embossed on vellum and a sweet little sentiment.

Grateful Blooms

Howdy!  Today I've got a distressed floral card to share with y'all.  I pulled out some Pan Pastels and my gel press plate and this gorgeous Dramatic Blooms stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  I placed the Dramatic Blooms stencil onto my gel plate and then "colored" the flowers with the Pan Pastels.  I removed the stencil and then covered the gel plate with some white paint and pulled a print.  This print resulted in this gorgeous distressed, vintage floral image.  I didn't want to cover it up so I just added a die cut sentiment from Concord & 9th and some Black Glossy Card Bling.

Howdy Flowers

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing a card that I created with the new Layered Mixed Flowers stencils from A Colorful Life Designs.  I love this set!  It's so fun to mix up the colors and the different layering stencils makes it so easy to create this gorgeous floral background.

I used a pink ink for the "petal-y" flowers and a yellow ink for the solid flowers.  I went back over the edges of the yellow flowers with my pink ink to give them a little bit of depth.  The leaves were done with an olive ink and I used a rich chocolate ink for the flower centers.  I cut the sentiment (Picket Fence Studios) from a deep brown cardstock and adhered it to my flower panel and then I glued the panel to a white card base.

French Script Feathers

Good morning!  Today I have a mixed media card to share with you.  A Colorful Life Designs has a bunch of wonderful new stencils for January, and one of them is this gorgeous Big Feathers stencil.  I placed this Big Feathers stencil over some white cardstock and taped it down.  Then I blended some green and blue inks with a blending brush and left the stencil in place.  Then I inked up an old wood mounted French Script stamp and pressed it down over the stencil so the script would only go inside each feather.  It's a rustic, grungy look with some of the script faded and some areas without the script.  I love that!  While the stencil was still in place, I splattered some liquid gold watercolor paint over the panel and let it dry.  Then I removed the stencil, added the sentiment and some gold Card Bling, and adhered the panel to a white card base.

Love Ya - Puppy Hearts

Happy New Year!!!!  Can you believe it's 2024??  I was just thinking back to the days of Y2K and how everyone was freaking out.  We've come a long way since those days!  LOL

Today there is a brand new stencil release over at A Colorful Life Designs.  There are so many great new stencils this month!  I decided to start with this Blowing Wishes stencil.  This is actually a set of 3 stencils (plus a little mask for the hand), and I just used the hearts stencil.  This is the perfect size for a card with a couple of puppies on each side like I've done here.  I placed the heart stencil right onto a white card and brushed some red ink over the whole piece.  Then I stamped, colored, and fussy cut the puppies (Ink Blot Shop) and white embossed the sentiment (Ink Blot Shop) onto a strip of black cardstock.  I glued the sentiment strip to the bottom of the card and then adhered the puppies on top of the sentiment strip.  It's such a cute scene!  I haven't decided if this will be a Valentine's card or an anniversary card.  What do you think?
