Spring cards with Chrissy - part 1

Remember the Christmas card swap I've been doing with my friend Chrissy?  We decided to throw in some Spring cards with our last set, so I have 3 sets of Spring cards to share with you this week.  This butterfly tag card is the first card set I created.

I started by sponging some Abandoned Coral distress ink over a grid stencil.  I then sprayed some white cardstock with distress spray stains (pink, purple, orange, yellow).  Once this was dry, I stamped the butterfly tag stamp from Penny Black and cut it out.  It needed a little extra something, so I smeared some Tropical Tangerine Stickles all over the tags.  That was so much fun!  I tied some ribbon through the tag hole and added a die cut "hello" to the card.

Does this card scream spring to you?  I kept the colors on the pastel side and the addition of the glittery Stickles brings a big smile to my face.  Can you tell I love glitter??  LOL!

I'll share the other two Spring cards sets with you this week, so check back to see some colorful cards.  I hope you have a wonderful week!

Christmas cards for Chrissy - Part 3

Here are the next two Christmas cards from my monthly swap with my friend, Chrissy.  We are doing 5 cards a month, and these are the cards I made for May and June.  I must admit, I am in LOVE with the angel card.  It turned out so much better than I saw it in my head.  :-)

I hope my Christmas card postings have inspired you to work on building up your own stash.  We made these clean and simple and mailable so we can actually get them mailed out to our friends and family before the Christmas holiday rolls around.  LOL  How many times have we stampers resorted to buying a box of Christmas cards because we ran out of time in December?  :-)

Christmas cards for Chrissy - part 2

Here are two more of the Christmas cards that I created for my friend, Chrissy.  We are doing a fun Christmas swap every month (5 cards each month), and these are the cards I made for March and April.

Our requirements are that they must be flat and mailable and they must have a sentiment or quote stamped on the inside.  I kind of cheated with these two because the gingerbread guy has a couple of small buttons on it, and the ornament has a rhinestone in the center.  So, they are not exactly flat, but close enough, right?  LOL!

I'll share the next two in a few days, and then I'll share my Spring cards with you.  Chrissy and I decided to add a little fun to our Christmas card swap by adding in some Spring cards.  We might switch it up over the rest of the year and do some other kinds of cards in addition to our Christmas cards,  What kinds of cards do you think we should do next?

Christmas cards for Chrissy - Part 1

Hi friends!  Remember when I said I was busy behind the scenes?  I've been doing a monthly Christmas card swap with a dear friend, Chrissy, and we are doing 5 cards (all the same) each month.  Our requirements were simple: make the cards flat and mailable, and stamp verses/sentiments on the inside so the cards are completely finished and ready to go.

Here are the first two cards I made for Chrissy for January and February.  I'll be sharing the next four cards with you, so I hope you are inspired to stock up your own Christmas card stash.  :-)

This candle image is a Penny Black stamp that I've had for years.  I stamped it with Versamark and embossed it with a glittery gold embossing powder.  It really sparkles when you move it back and forth in the light.  Chrissy's favorite color is red, and she loves the red/black/white color combo, so this card just screams Chrissy to me.  Hee hee hee!!

This is a cute and simple card using a pinecone stamp set from Papertrey Ink.  I stamped the tiny pinecones in the background and then I used the larger pinecone stamp for the focal point.  I was itching to tie a big ol' ribbon or burlap around this, but I kept it flat and simple so Chrissy wouldn't have to put extra postage on these.  :-)

Come on back in a couple days and I'll have two more cards to share with you.  I'll also be sharing some special cards next week from our "Spring cards" swap that we decided to add in to our Christmas card swaps.  :-)

Black and White Scene

Hello again!  We've been living with some gray rainy days here in Texas for the past few weeks, and we still have more gray and more rain in our forecast for the next week.  I'm starting to wonder if we will ever see the sun again.  So, in the spirit of the gray rainy days, I made a black and white card with a pop of red (and some gold).

I stamped this beautiful scene from this Oriental Images and Texts sheet at Art Neko with some black Stazon ink.  The gold and black diamond paper is also from Art Neko - you can find it here.  The red really pops out against the black and white, doesn't it?  Just a simple white ribbon is all I needed to accent this card.

They have been busy over at Art Neko.  Type in the word "new" in the Search box and you'll see all the latest additions to the store.  They have so many other things besides stamps - go see for yourself.  It's fun to peek in and see what new goodies they have for sale.  :-)

I hope you are having a great week!  The weekend is almost here!

Butterfly Hi

Hi folks!  I know I haven't been very chatty lately.  I've been working behind the scenes, so to speak, on some special cards.  I'll be sharing these over the next few weeks, so I hope you're ready for some eye candy!  :-)

Today's card is one that I was having fun with over the weekend.  I stamped this adorable Brushstroke Child Chasing Butterflies from Art Neko with some black ink.  Then I sprayed the entire piece with several different colors of Dylusions sprays - Fresh Lime, Vibrant Turquoise, Pure Sunshine, and White.  The chipboard frame was painted with Vibrant Turquoise Dylusions paint.    I love playing with sprays - you never know what your final piece is going to look like until it is completely dry.

Check out the wonderful stamps over at Art Neko.  To see the newest stamps and products, type "new" into the search box.  They recently put up some gorgeous bookmark stamps that are calling my name!  Have fun drooling!
