Window Planter and Brick Wall - CHF

Good evening, folks! I've been sick for the past week, which is why it's been so quiet on my blog. I'm hoping I've turned the corner and I'm finally on the mend now. Unfortunately, my hubby may have caught whatever I've had. Poor guy! I hope he doesn't come down with it!

I wanted to share a new CHF card with ya tonight. CHF is my shorthand for Cornish Heritage Farms. We just had a big release party a little over a week ago, and all the new rubber stamps are up in their store now. I've used two of the awesome backgrounders on this card - Brick Wall and Wood Grain.

I used the Wood Grain backgrounder on the little window planter and then I added some leaves and flowers to the planter. The Brick Wall backgrounder is stamped on the dark red cardstock with a brown ink and then I sponged a little more around the edges. I die cut the window and added some blue patterned paper to simulate wallpaper inside the window.

This is a fun little scene I've had in my head ever since I saw the Brick Wall backgrounder. :-) Wouldn't it be fun to do this for all four seasons? Think about it - some leaves all over the place for fall, some snow and maybe a wreath in the window for winter.... The brick wall can be any color as well - cream, classic brick red, brown, white..... so many possibilities!

I hope you have enjoyed this fun little window scene! Have a wonderful week!

Mini Album Mania Blog Hop

Welcome to the Mini Album Mania blog hop! Today, a group of designers is showing off their mini album creations using fun techniques from the brand new Mini Album Mania CD available from Technique Junkies. If you've arrived here from Chris Dickinson's blog, you're on the right path. If not, please start at the Technique Junkies blog so you don't miss any of the wonderful albums along the way.

For my project, I decided to try the Altered Mint Tin Album. I found some pictures of my niece having fun in a kiddie pool, so I made some copies and cut them to fit into this mint tin. Some fun pool-themed stickers are all I needed to complete this quick little mini album.

You have a chance to win your own copy of this Mini Album Mania CD! All you need to do is leave a comment on each blog along the hop. What pictures would you put in this Mint Tin Album? Would you scrap your pet playing outside or would you have pictures of your kids in the kitchen baking cookies? The winner, randomly chosen from all the comments, will be posted on Pat Huntoon's blog next week.

If you are like me and you want to buy your CD now, you can purchase it here. You can also see a complete list of all the fun new techniques that are on this CD.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! Your next stop is Hetty Sanders' blog.  Have fun hopping!!

Rogue Challenge #10 - Rose Wreath

Have you seen the newest challenge on the Rogue Redhead Designs blog? Shar has a picture of the new colors issued by Pantone, and the challenge is to use any of those colors on your project.

My eye was drawn to the moss-y green color and the beige-ish color in the challenge picture. I pulled out some moss and kraft cardstock and thought about what direction to go in. After looking at my collection of Rogue stamps, I had a vision in my head of a wreath. I stamped the rose from the Floriculture set multiple times onto some mauve paper and cut them all out.

I stamped the sentiment (also from the Floriculture set) onto kraft cardstock that was cut with a circle die, and then I arranged the roses around the sentiment. I punched some leaves and branches from moss and kraft cardstock and adhered them between the roses.

The background is a Watercolor Gesso technique from Technique Junkies. I love how this backgound has touches of all three colors - pink, moss, and kraft. Some kraft seam binding was tied into a bow and added to the top of the wreath.

Check out the Spring Fashion Colors challenge and play along with us! We'd love to see what colors you pick to play with!

CHF April Blog Hop

Welcome to the Cornish Heritage Farms blog hop! Come join us as the Cornish Heritage Farms Design Team takes you on a journey discovering all sorts of CHF goodness! If you didn’t start at the beginning of this hop, you might want to head on over to the Cornish Heritage Farms Blog so that you don’t miss out on anything.

This month we have 17 backgrounders, 3 ATC Sets, 2 individual Rummage Bin Stamps and 3 Rummage Bin Stamp sets being released. These are real red rubber stamps - just the first release of many! :-)

"First 24 Special" - receive 15% off all orders that are placed within the first 24 hours of the release.

Be sure to leave a comment on everyone’s blog as you travel from blog to blog for your chance to win some Cornish Heritage Farms blog candy. Three of our CHF Design Team members will be giving away blog candy, but who they are is a secret! They will be giving away one new CHF stamp to a random person who leaves a comment on their blog! You have 24 hours to leave your comments on each blog to be eligible for the prizes.

I've got two cards to share with you today. My first card has the wonderful new Denim Backgrounder stamped in blue. I then pulled out an elegant flourish from the gorgeous new Beautiful set and stamped it with dark brown ink directly on the Denim background. The sentiment is from the new Ornamental Beauty set. I used a Watercolor Distress technique (from Technique Junkies) on some white cardstock and die cut the flowers. Some baker's twine is threaded through a dark brown button and adhered to the center of the flowers.

For my second card, I've pulled out my favorite Gingham Backgrounder and stamped it in a bright sunny yellow. The flowers and the sentiment are digital stamps that are available in the CHF store. I printed out the Floral 11 and the Be Happy digital stamps and colored them with Copic markers. I added some Star Dust Stickles to the bee's wings and to the yellow centers of the purple flowers. Some purple satin ribbon balances out this happy, sunny card.

All of the stamps that I've noted in bold are new rubber stamps, and they are available in the CHF store right now. Once you've finished going through the blog hop and left your comments, head on over to the store to go shopping and take advantage of the 15% off special!

Please hop on over to Jacqueline Smith's blog to see what beautiful creations she has for you now. Thank you for joining us in our first CHF blog hop!!

I've stamped the Gingham Backgrounder with olive ink onto some naturals white cardstock. I created a fun banner with designer paper and some silk flowers in purple hues. For my card today, I've used a couple more stamps from the Haute Couture set. This is a red rubber stamp set that will be available in the CHF store on Thursday evening.

I stamped the ladies with Rich Cocoa Memento ink and colored them in with Copic markers. The edges are sponged with Antique Linen distress ink (Wisped Frames technique from Technique Junkies), and I added pearls and some soft silk ribbon. Don't you love the vintage feel of these ladies?

Come on back tomorrow to see what I'm sneak peeking next. Hint: it's one of my FAVORITE backgrounders! I've got one more sneak peek for tomorrow (Wednesday), and then we will have a fun blog hop on Thursday evening. You don't want to miss any of the gorgeous artwork!

CHF April Sneak Peek Day 2 - new rubber releases!!!

Good morning! Today is the second day of sneak peeks for the new Cornish Heritage Farms April 2012 stamp release! When CHF opened their doors last year, they started with digis in their store. I'm happy to announce that they will have real red rubber stamps available in the store beginning on Thursday, April 19!!

For my card today, I've gone with a shabby chic, vintage, Parisienne style. All the stamps on this card are from the Haute Couture set - a rubber stamp set that will be in the CHF store on Thursday evening. The fleur de lis, the Eiffel Tower, and the Paris sentiment are all part of this set. If you look closely, I added the fleur de lis to the background as well as to the right of the tower. I love how it just blends right in and looks like it is part of the designer paper.

Come on back tomorrow to see what I'm sneak peeking next. You just "might" see some more stamps from this new Haute Couture set. *wink* I'll be sneak peeking Tuesday and Wednesday, and then we will have a fun blog hop on Thursday evening. You don't want to miss any of the gorgeous artwork!

CHF April Sneak Peek Day 1 - new rubber releases!!!

Good morning! Today is the first day of sneak peeks for the new Cornish Heritage Farms April 2012 stamp release! When CHF opened their doors last year, they started with digis in their store. I'm happy to announce that they will have real red rubber stamps available in the store beginning on Thursday, April 19!!

* Don’t forget to check out all the Cornish Heritage Farms Design Team’s blogs for more sneak peeks everyday! I have a complete list at the end of this blog post. :-)

For my card today, I'm combining a red rubber background stamp with a fun CHF digi stamp. I've stamped the background of my card with the Woodgrain backgrounder - a rubber stamp that will be in the CHF store on Thursday evening. The cute treehouse is one of the Mushroom Lane digis (#51) and I've colored it with Copic markers. The edges are distressed and I've use the Torn Frames technique (from Technique Junkies) to give it a bit more texture. Some bright red buttons provide a nice pop of color to echo the tiny ladybugs in the digital image. :-)

Come on back tomorrow to see what I'm sneak peeking next. Will it be another backgrounder or one of the stamp sets?? Hmmmmmm??? I'll be sneak peeking Monday through Wednesday, and then we will have a fun blog hop on Thursday evening. You don't want to miss any of the gorgeous artwork!

Vintage Textured Blossom

Howdy again! I've got a sweet, vintage card to share with you today:

I used the Textured Blossom technique from Technique Junkies to create that flower. This technique is on the Stampin' Companion CD which you can order by clicking on the "Buy Now" button (upper right hand sidebar on my blog). You may remember that I created a card similar to this a few weeks ago. I wanted to go with a vintage feel for this card, so I used different colors and papers for this one. Most of the supplies are from Classy Cards 'n Such:

Rose Creations dies (Spellbinders)
Flower Flourish embossing folder
Vintage Blue 6x6 paper pad
Sweet Wishes set (Stampavie)

You can save 10% off your order when you go shopping at Classy Cards 'n Such - just enter in this code when you check out: Holly-10 . I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Unruly PaperArts sponging challenge

There is a cool new "blog-o-zine" that I've been stalking on the Internet called Unruly PaperArts. It just became live a little over a week ago (April 1), and there have been and will be some awesome articles and artwork to drool over. The format is a bit different - instead of putting it all out there on one day, they spread out the articles over a whole month. So every few days there is a new post full of great information and gorgeous artwork.

When you explore this site, you'll see some tabs at the top of the page. I clicked on the Reader Art Quest 1 link, and whadya know? There's a fun challenge for readers to participate in! This one calls for us to share our sponged artwork, so I spent a few days thinking about what I wanted to do. There is a deadline (April 15) so I had to sit down and put ink to paper and see what I could come up with.

Since this challenge is all about sponging, I pulled out some distress inks and sponged Worn Lipstick on the top 2/3 of my white cardstock. I went over the top third with some Fired Brick distress ink, concentrating the red color on the edges. Then I sponged Forest Moss distress ink on the bottom third and added "texture" by pressing the sponge into the smooth green areas.

I stamped this lovely girl from my Relish Reading set (Rogue Redhead Designs) with black ink directly onto my sponged piece, and then I used the Silhouette technique from Technique Junkies on the tree and the girl. The "DayDream" sentiment is just perfect for this girl looking off in the distance. This sentiment is also from the Relish Reading set at Rogue Redhead Designs.

I really wanted to add a butterfly or some ribbon or flowers, but I stopped myself. This is for a sponging challenge, so I want the focus to be on the sponged background. :-) I hope you check out this new Unruly PaperArts site and play along in the challenges!

Glittered Egg Easter Basket

This week's challenge on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog is to make a basket. I pulled out some Cheery Lynn Designs dies and put this cute little basket together:

I started by cutting out the smallest egg from the Nesting Eggs set. The Lacy Egg Five was cut from an adhesive sheet and then covered with Lacy Lilac Glitter (Glitter Roll technique from Technique Junkies). I cut out some flowers (Miniature Rose and Medium Rose) and put some brads in the centers. The handle is created by cutting some celery cardstock with the Country Girl border die. Some white tafetta ribbon was weaved through the holes and then I added some bows to the ends.

I bought all the dies from Classy Cards 'n Such. The Nested Eggs and the Lacy Egg dies are not in the store because I asked Beverly (the owner) to order them for me. She is such a sweetie! She's always happy to special order dies for her customers - just send her an email and prepay for the items, and then squeal in delight when they arrive in your mailbox. :-) If you'd like to save a little money, enter in coupon code Holly-10 when you check out and you'll save 10% off your entire order.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

Cheery Lynn Designs #22 - Make a Basket
Gingerloft Challenge #37 - Anything but a card
Totally Stampalicious - Anything but a card
Creative Monday #5 - Anything but a card

Hope you have a great week!
