Vellum Leaves

Hi friends!  I am the guest designer over on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog this month, and this is the project I posted over there this past Friday.  I had this color combo in my head, and I didn't want to introduce any green tones, so I came up with this idea to use vellum for all the leaves and flourishes.  You can check out my blog post over on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog to see which dies I used for this card.  :-)

Guest Designer on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog

Patriotic Scene with Cheery Lynn Designs

Hi friends!  This card is up on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog today - my last post as their guest designer for this month.  I've had a wonderful time guesting for CLD.  If you ever have the opportunity to try out for a guest designer spot, I heartily recommend it!!  The owner, BJ, and the design team coordinators are absolutely wonderful to work with.  Many thanks to you ladies for making this a pleasurable experience.

For my card today, I was thinking about the upcoming 4th of July holiday, and I wanted to make a patriotic summer scene card. This Patriotic Swag die fit the bill perfectly. If you haven't checked out this die, it comes as one large connected die. There are three pieces connected by some very thin strips of metal. It's easy to snap them apart into three individual dies. Look at the picture below. You can see I separated the three pieces and then cut each piece with a different color of cardstock.

I used the following dies on my card:

Patriotic Swag
Victorian Picket Fence
Clouds and Rain
Grass Border

I started by sponging some blue and green inks on white cardstock and then I stamped the tree to one side. The clouds were adhered so that some of them were floating past the edges of the scene. The picket fence is actually some kraft cardstock that I distressed to look like a whitewashed fence (Simple Whitewash technique from Technique Junkies issue 08/09) and then I added the grass border to the bottom. Finally I put the swag together and glued it to the fence, and then I pulled some of the grass out so it would be "blowing" against the swag.

Song in your Heart

Hi friends!  I hope you've been having a great week so far.  How about another Verses Rubber Stamps card to share with y'all today?  I really loved creating this card using the Sing it Back to You (FS1135-E) stamp from Verses Rubber Stamps.  This is in the Friendship section of the website, and there are a bunch of wonderful sentiments in this category.  I can see that I'm going to have to collect all of these!  :-)

There are times when you just want to send a card for no particular reason, and this card is perfect for those times.  It's not a birthday, not a holiday, not a thank you - just a little note to let a friend know how much you enjoy being with them.  I paired this sentiment with some soft floral papers and some handmade paper flowers that I created using some Cheery Lynn Designs flower dies.

Hi crafty friends!  My second guest designer post is up on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog today.  I've done something a little different with this card. It looks clean and simple, right? Take another look at the red doily underneath the butterfly. Do you see what I did? :-)

The Cheery Lynn Designs dies that I've used on this card are:

French Pastry Doily
Small Exotic Butterflies #2 with Angel Wings

I used the whole French Pastry Doily even thought it looks like I only have half of it on here. I made one cut from the outside edge to the center of the doily. Then I put my doily on my trusty little Scor-Buddy and scored from the scallops in towards the center. The doily was then accordian-folded into this little half-rosette that you see here.

This was my first time trying this idea with a doily, and I was thrilled to see that it worked. Now if I want a full sized rosette, I can do this with two of the doily die cuts and glue them together. Wouldn't that be fun?? I hope you enjoyed this card today. Guest Designer for Cheery Lynn Designs

I'm happy to share the news with you that today I am a guest designer over on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog.  Squeeeeeeeeeee!  I am their guest designer for this month, so for the next three Sundays, I'll have a new post up over there.  

For my card today, I've gone with a slightly Oriental theme. I was inspired by the new Vase dies and I wanted to see what would fit into this particular shape of vase. The baby's breath branch from the Embellishments #2 set works perfectly! I cut some of the tiny baby's breath flowers (Embellishments #2) as well as some of the larger flowers from the Embellishments #3 set and glued them down on the branch. I added pearls to the four largest flowers.

For the vase itself, I wanted it to look like old crackled pottery. I stamped the vase with a stained glass background and then covered it with Glossy Accents. It was set aside to dry overnight and then glued down over the floral branch.

The Mesh Border provides the perfect little accent in the background. You can see that I kept this clean and simple so that the vase of flowers remains the focal point of this card. I hope you've enjoyed my first guest post today! Check out my post next Sunday for a fun and colorful card. :-)
