Bloom with Grace

Good morning!  I pulled out an older stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and created this sunny yellow floral card to share with y'all today.

I placed this Bloom with Grace stencil over some white cardstock and taped it down.  Then I used some scratch paper to cover up the words while I brushed some yellow ink over the flower at the top.  A small finger dauber was really handy for adding a little bit of brown ink to the center of the flower.  I used a dark brown Copic marker to add the dots to the center, and then I moved my scratch paper to cover up the flower while I brushed dark brown ink over the text part of the stencil.  I trimmed this panel down and glued it to a yellow card base.  Then I added some thin strips of dark brown cardstock on the sides of the stenciled panel and trimmed them so they were even with the card.

Live in the Moment

Good morning!  I was playing with my Gel Press and some stencils, and this purple flower background is one of the gel pulls that I just had to put on a card right away. 

I placed the Layered Mum stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save) onto the Gel Press and then I applied some purple Pan Pastels over the stencil.  I carefully peeled the stencil off and then brayered some white paint over the gel plate, placed some paper on top, and pulled the print.  After the paint was completely dry, I trimmed the paper down and placed it into my MISTI.  I stamped the sentiment (Tim Holtz) with a black pigment ink, covered it with clear embossing powder, and melted the powder with a heat tool.  Then I layered this piece with a black mat before I glued this to a purple card base.

Ombre Shamrock Birthday Cards

Good morning!  These two cards would be fun to give to those who have birthdays in March.  I used the Shamrock Spray stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save) to brush the green inks onto both cards.  Then I used some old rub-ons and transferred the sentiments onto both cards.  I found the rub-ons in my stash and I figured I might as well use them, right?  They worked great!  Then I used the white gel pen to doodle on the shamrocks in the card above.  It was fun to just doodle and enjoy myself!

 

Irish Blessing with Shamrocks

Good morning!  I used the new Shamrock Spray stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (code HollyFan10 to save) to add a little "luck 'o the green" to this Irish Blessing sentiment.  I stamped this sentiment (Verses Rubber Stamps) with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink in the center of a white A2 panel.  Then I placed the Shamrock Spray stencil over the sentiment and lightly brushed some green ink over the whole thing.  I used some rectangle dies to cut out the sentiment and a dark green mat to go behind the sentiment.  Then I glued all three pieces down onto a dark green card base.

Beyond the Blue #80 - Stencil Crazy

Today's Beyond the Blue challenge (#80) is all about the stencils.  Lee is asking us to use more than one stencil on our projects, so I went a little further and used FIVE stencils on this memory dex card.  I pulled out a bunch of scenic stencils from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save) and basically just played until I got to a stopping point.

The stamp is also from A Colorful Life Designs, and it's from the Altitude set.  I used distress inks and lightly brushed each color on, gradually getting darker and darker as I worked my way down.  Then I misted the whole piece with water and let it dry.  You can see the faded circles where the water removed some of the ink colors.

Shamrock Spray Planner Pages

Good morning!  I recently started using a planner and I was inspired by my friend, Jammie, to do some artwork on the pages.  Jammie does beautiful work on her planner pages with stencils and stamps and stickers and gorgeous coloring.  I am dipping my toe into the planner artwork world with this first try here.

I pulled out the new Shamrock Spray stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and placed it on these two pages where March begins.  I brushed some green ink over the stencil, concentrating most of the color at the bottom so I have a pretty green ombre trail of shamrocks.  I then cut out the girl on the bicycle and glued it to the top of the page (it was from a little thank you note from Ellen Hutson).  

I'm so excited with this first attempt at adding artwork to my planner.  I'm already working on some other planner pages, so be on the lookout for those next month!

Glittery Mosaic Thank You

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing this extra glittery card that I created with the Flower Mosaic stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  Can you see the flower pattern in the stenciled background?  I love the mosaic stencils - it's so easy to make a gorgeous project with them.

I started by placing the Flower Mosaic stencil on some white cardstock and I taped the edges down so nothing would move.  Then I pulled out a couple of paper glazes that have glitter in them and spread them all over the stencil.  I used the Nutcracker Ballet "a" and "c" paper glazes from Picket Fence Studios - one is a pale pink and the other is a deeper teal color.  The sentiment (from Ellen Hutson) was cut from a glittery dark pink paper and adhered to a white shadow.  After the stenciled background was dry,  I trimmed the edges, adhered the sentiment to the center, and then glued it to a white card base.

Glittery Circled Flowers

I promised y'all a glittery card today and here it is!  LOL  I used the same stencil as yesterday - the Circled Flower stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  I used Saltwater Taffy distress ink for the circles and some Picked Raspberry distress oxide ink for the flowers.  Then I went over all the flowers with some Fruit Punch Stickles and set it aside to dry.  

For the sentiment, I inked up some scrap paper with the Raspberry distress oxide and die cut the "you" and glued it to the white shadow die cut.  Then I went over the "you" with the same Fruit Punch Stickles and set it aside to dry.  Meanwhile, I stamped the "are amazing" and trimmed it down.  Both the sentiment stamps and dies are from Honey Bee Stamps.  After the Stickles was completely dry, I adhered the stenciled panel to a white card base and then placed the sentiment pieces on the card.

Flowery Smiles

Good morning!  We made it through the crazy ice storm last week and today is supposed to be 72 degrees!  How crazy is that?

Today's card really does make me smile.  I placed the new Circled Flowers stencil from A Colorful Life Designs over some white cardstock and then used a little finger dauber to add some Saltwater Taffy distress ink over the little circle marks around the flowers.  Then I used some Abandoned Coral distress oxide ink to color in the flowers.  It's a very subtle change in color with the flowers just a bit darker so they pop out.  After I added the sentiment (Honey Bee Stamps), I added some white Nuvo drops to the centers of the flowers.

Valentine Cards from Hero Arts Stamp Along

I attended the Hero Arts Valentine Stamp Along last weekend and we made some gorgeous Valentine cards.  There's just a little bit of time left in the Hero Arts Stay Crafty challenge to share our "love" cards, so I thought I would enter these into that challenge.  We had a great time during the Stamp Along and we learned some great tips and tricks!

Intricate Diamonds Three Ways

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing three different cards all featuring the new Intricate Diamonds stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (code HollyFan10 to save).  I love this stencil because it has so many different patterns within the diamonds, and I love the abstract and geometrical nature of this design.  You can use this for anything and with any kind of medium.

On this first card, I simply brushed some soft blue dye ink through the stencil and let it fade out.  Then I added some die cut flowers and stamped the sentiment from the Oodles set (also from A Colorful Life Designs).

On this purple card, I pulled out a gel press print that had some pinks, blues, and purples in it.  I brushed some Villainous Potion distress ink (dark purple) over the stencil and gel print for a dramatic geometric look.

For this bright and shiny card, I placed the Intricate Diamonds stencil over some white cardstock and spread on several different colors of Paper Glaze (Picket Fence Studios).  While this was drying, I spread the leftover paste onto some scrap paper and let that dry.  Then I die cut the sentiment from the scrap paper and adhered it to a white shadow die cut and affixed it to the stenciled card.  The colors of paste that I used were Daffodil Yellow, Succulent Green, Jade Vine, and Ocean Poppy.

Dotted Wreath of Love

Good morning!  Can you believe it's February?  That means there is a new stencil release from A Colorful Life Designs, and there's lots of fun new designs to play with.  I used the gorgeous new Dotted Wreath stencil to create my Valentine's Day card.  I placed the stencil down onto a white card base and brushed some pale pink ink on first.  Then I rotated the stencil 90 degrees and brushed a medium pink ink over the stencil.  Then I rotated the stencil another 90 degrees and brushed a red ink on.  I love this multicolored dotty wreath!  I then stamped the sentiment (from Technique Junkies) with black ink in the center of the wreath.
