Big Lined Hugs

Good morning!  Can you believe this is the last week of August already??  I am more than ready for some fall weather, believe me.  I am so NOT a hot-weather person.  LOL!

For my card today, I played around with some different ideas.  I began by placing the Big and Little Lines stencil from A Colorful Life Designs over some watercolor paper and I spread some white texture paste over the whole panel.  After that dried completely, I took this panel outside and sprayed two different colors of sprays at a diagonal.  One color is a pale peach (top left) and the other color is a deeper, yet still soft, orange color.  I wanted to keep the feel of this card soft, so I die cut the sentiment (Concord and 9th) from white cardstock and the shadow from vellum.  The Satin Matte Nude Card Bling is just perfect with the colors on this card.

Alternating Square Hi

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing a bold card with y'all using the fun new Alternating Squares stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  I had spent a day spraying all different colors of distress sprays onto watercolor papers and after they dried, I looked through the panels to see which ones I wanted to stencil onto.  I found this yellow almost orange-y ombre-ish panel and I just had to see how this would look.

I placed the Alternating Squares stencil over my sprayed panel and brushed black ink over the whole thing.  After it was completely dry, I glued it to a black card base.  The sentiment (Concord and 9th) was die cut from black cardstock and glued to a vellum circle, which was then glued to the stenciled background.  It's clean and simple, but because of that gorgeous stencil, this card has a bold impact.

Postage Mum Hello

For my card today, I wanted to see how this sweet mum would look with the Postage Stamp stencil.  I began by placing the 3.5" Postage Stamp stencil onto some white cardstock, and I lightly brushed a soft blue all over the open area.  While this Postage Stamp stencil was still in place, I placed the medium size flower on the Chrysanthemum Set stencil over the inky blue area and I brushed some green ink over the stem and some bright pink ink over the petals.  I carefully removed both stencils and stamped the "hello" sentiment (Ink Blot Shop) with black ink in the upper left corner of this postage stamp.  This stenciled panel was then matted with a bright pink layer and then affixed to a white card base.

Cayenne Mum Hello

Good morning!  I'm back with another card I created with the new Chrysanthemum Set stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  This stencil is on sale for just $4 until August 22, so grab it now while you can get it at this fantastic price.

I love the look of this mum, and I wanted to see how it would look if I added a bit of color between the stenciled petals.  I placed the Chrysanthemum Set stencil so that the largest flower was angled slightly at the bottom of my white card panel.  I brushed some green ink on the stem and some deep orange cayenne ink on the petals.  I removed the stencil and lightly brushed some of the same deep cayenne ink over the petals (just using the leftover ink already on the brush).  I love how that turned out!

This stenciled panel was die cut with a rounded corners die and adhered to a cayenne card base.  I die cut the sentiment (Picket Fence Studios) from the same cayenne cardstock and adhered it above the stenciled mum.  For my finishing touch, I added some gorgeous Metallic Bronze Card Bling above and below the flower.

Shimmery Mum Hello

Good morning!  There is a brand new Mid-month Motivation stencil in the A Colorful Life Designs shop, and this one is a gorgeous Chrysanthemum Set.  This stencil is on sale for only $4 for just one week until August 22, so get it now before the price goes up.  There are three sizes of gorgeous mum flowers on this 6x9 stencil, and I had fun playing with this.  

I placed the Chrysanthemum Set onto some white cardstock, and then I brushed some dark brown ink over the largest mum first.  Then I picked up the stencil and moved it so that the medium mum was on the right side of the panel and brushed some more dark brown ink on that.  Then I picked up the stencil again, repositioned it so that the small mum was below the large stenciled mum, and brushed the dark brown ink onto that.  After all three stenciled mums were completely dry, I pulled out some yellow and green distress sprays and sprayed the panel.  After this panel was dry, I pulled out the new shimmery Distress Spritz spray (Amber) and sprayed a light coat of that over the top.  While this was drying, I die cut the sentiment (Picket Fence Studios) twice from white cardstock and glued them together.

Once the stenciled and sprayed panel was completely dry, I glued this to a white card base.  Then I adhered the sentiment above the mums and added some of the gorgeous new Satin Matte Copper Card Bling randomly all over the card.  Check out the gorgeous shimmer on this card in the picture below!

Hey Sheriff Fox

Howdy!  I'm popping in to share this fun card that I created with the new Slanted Angles stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  This card started with the background that I sprayed with several different colors of distress sprays (oranges and rusty reds).  After that dried, I placed the Slanted Angles stencil over that and brushed on some deep dark orange ink.  I found some cardstock in colors that worked with this Sheriff Fox and cut them with scissors to resemble hills and glued them to the bottom of the stenciled panel.  Sheriff Fox (a die cut ephemera piece from Simple Stories) was adhered with foam tape as well as the stamped sentiment (Ink Blot Shop).  The final touch was to affix some Satin Matte Copper Card Bling - it goes beautifully with these deep canyon colors.

Teal Hi with Polka Dot Bling

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing a card that I created with a stencil and some fun polka dot Card Bling from A Colorful Life Designs.  I actually squealed when I saw the polka dot Card Bling, and I had to pull out the new White with Black Dots Card Bling to put on this card.  It's so cute!!

I started by spraying a panel of watercolor paper with some distress ink sprays and letting it dry.  Then I placed the new Bound Boxes stencil over the colorful panel and brushed some black ink over the whole thing.  To add a little extra texture and to flatten out this watercolor panel, I ran it through my die cutting machine with a texture plate (Concord and 9th).  I glued this panel to a white card base and then I added the die cut sentiment (Concord and 9th) to the center.  Lastly, I added some of the cute White with Black Dots Card Bling all over the card.

Celebrate Bling Shaker

Good morning!!  There are some fabulous new stencils over at A Colorful Life Designs this month, and I've been having fun making all kinds of cards with them.  I used the new Linear Lines stencil on my card today along with a mix of new and old Card Bling.  

I started by spraying this watercolor paper with some colorful distress sprays and then I set it aside to dry.  Then I placed the Linear Lines stencil over my sprayed panel, taped it down, and sponged some black ink over the whole piece.  While that was drying, I die cut the sentiment (Hero Arts) and glued the black and white pieces together.  

After my stenciled panel was completely dry, I added double-sided tape to the back of the panel.  Then I cut up some plastic packaging so it was larger than my panel and adhered it to the back on three sides.  I left one side open and poured in some Card Bling that matched my sprayed colors.  The Glossy White is one of the new colors of Card Bling, and you can see in my picture how the white is a nice bright white against the dark stenciled background.  I folded the clear plastic over and taped it down on the back to seal it up, and then I adhered this shaker panel to a white card base.  Lastly, I glued the die cut sentiment to the center of my shaker card.

Just Chicken In Dex Card

Good morning!  There is a new stencil release over at A Colorful Life Designs today, and this month is full of awesome geometrical designs.  I used the fun new Big and Little Lines stencil on my dex card today.

I began by die cutting the dex card from some green cardstock.  Then I placed the Big and Little Lines stencil over the green card and brushed some darker green ink over the whole piece.  While that was drying, I die cut another dex card from brown cardstock and then trimmed it and adhered just the bottom fourth of the brown piece to the green stenciled dex card.  Then I glued on some cute little die cut ephemera and signed the back.
