Lucky Cactus Sunset

Good morning!  Have you seen the new June release from A Colorful Life Designs?  This Circle Cactus stencil caught my eye right away, and I knew it would make a spectacular sunset card.  I placed this Circle Cactus stencil over some black cardstock and taped it down on all four sides.  Then I pulled out my Pan Pastels and just carefully dabbed it over the stencil, mixing up several different colors.  After I carefully lifted up the stencil, I took this panel outside and sprayed it with some workable fixatif to set the chalk.  Then I added the gold embossed sentiment and glued this to a white card base.

Happy Birthday Sweet Mermaid

Good morning!  I am sharing this fun and sparkly card with y'all today.  The new Swirling Droplets stencil from A Colorful Life Designs is gorgeous, and I knew I wanted to see how this looked with a mermaid tail.  I placed the Swirling Droplets stencil over some pale blue cardstock and spread a semi-clear glittery paste over the panel.  While that was drying, I die cut the mermaid tail from some glittery blue paper and I stamped the sentiment (Technique Junkies) with some black ink.  

After the stenciled panel was completely dry, I glued it to a white card base.  I added the glittery mermaid tail to the left side and I used foam tape to adhere the sentiment.  To finish off this sparkly card, I added some of the stunning new Crystal Metallic Royal Blue Card Bling.

Near the Sea Whale

Good morning!  Today's card is all about the sea, which is perfect since it's so hot and summer-y even though it's not officially summer yet.  I got some new stencils from A Colorful Life Designs and I wanted to see if I could create a little oceanside scene.

I began by blending some soft blue ink over a white cardstock panel, and then I masked off the top third with some sticky notes.  I brushed a darker blue ink all over the bottom third of the panel, and then I placed the Dotted Waves stencil over that and brushed a slightly darker blue ink over the stencil.  After I removed the Dotted Waves stencil, I removed the sticky notes.  Then.I placed the Whales Swimming stencil over the panel and brushed some dark gray ink over just one of the whales.  To complete this scene, I stamped the sentiment (Technique Junkies) with dark gray ink and then drew in some birds with a pencil.  After I did a little happy dance over this fun scene, I adhered this stenciled panel to some dark gray cardstock and then glued them to a white card base.

Wild Rings Father's Day

Wild Rings Doodling

Good morning!  Today there is a brand new Mid Month Inspiration stencil on sale for just $4 at A Colorful Life Designs.  This new Wild Rings stencil is awesome for mixed media and art journaling and gel printing.  For these two cards, I placed the Wild Rings stencil over some white cardstock and spread three different colors of paste (green, blue, teal) over the whole panel.  After the panel was completely dry, I pulled out a gold gel pen and doodled directly on top of each of the stenciled circles.  It was so relaxing and calming and therapeutic to just doodle different patterns.

The gold gel pen was not completely dry even after an hour, so I used a heat tool to dry it and set it.  Then I cut the panel into two pieces and used them in different orientations on these two cards.  These are truly mixed media cards as I've used three different mediums - the stencil pastes, the gold gel pen, and the black hybrid ink (sentiments).

Father's Day Agave

Good morning!  Father's Day is coming up faster than I thought, and I gotta get my cards done and mailed.  This new Agave stencil from A Colorful Life Designs is perfect for those masculine cards that we need, and this card came together pretty nicely.

I placed the Agave stencil over some kraft cardstock and spread some green paste over the entire cactus.  I let this panel dry completely, and then I brushed some brown ink all around the edges and heavily at the bottom.  A distress tool made it easy to rough up the edges of this panel before I glued it to a kraft card base.  The sentiment (Hero Arts) was stamped and cut out and glued on the panel above the stenciled cactus.  This card is nice and flat and perfect for mailing.

Foiled Birthday Agave

Good morning!  Today's card is a fun foiled cactus that I created with the Agave stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  I placed this Agave stencil over some kraft cardstock, and then I spread some transfer gel over the stencil.  This gel gets tacky when it dries, so you have to wait for it to go from the milky white color to a clear tacky gel before you can do anything with it.  So while this stenciled panel was drying, I die cut the sentiments (Spellbinders) and glued them together.  Then I pulled out some green and gold transfer foil (NOT hot foil) and randomly pressed it over the dried-but-tacky stenciled gel.  I love this fun look of the green and the gold all mixed up.  To finish this card, I glued the sentiments to the foiled panel and then adhered this panel to a dark green card base.  This will be a great card to send to one of the men in the family.

Wild Agave

Good morning!  Today I have a nature-inspired card to share with you.  I fell in love with the new Agave stencil from A Colorful Life Designs as soon as I saw it, and I immediately placed it down onto some white cardstock and spread some olive green paste over this.  After the paste dried, I masked off the upper part of the cactus panel with some sticky notes and brushed some brown ink on the bottom of this panel.  I carefully removed the mask and turned it around, covering up the brown ground, and I brushed some deep orange, terra cotta ink in the middle of the panel.  We've had some brilliant sunsets lately with this gorgeous rusty orange near the horizon and the blue skies above that.  At the top, I lightly brushed some pale blue ink and then stamped this sentiment from Stampscapes.  Finally, I splattered some brown ink all over the panel and then adhered this panel to a brown card base.

Mermazing Bling Shaker Card

Good morning!  Today's card is full of sparkle and shine.  A Colorful Life Designs has a fabulous new release with summer-themed stencils and stunning new colors of Card Bling.  I've used NINE of those new colors of bling on this shaker card today.

I started by placing the new Dotted Waves stencil over some light blue cardstock.  I brushed a slightly darker blue ink over the whole panel and then I stamped the mermaid with teal blue ink.  I also stamped the sentiment with the teal blue ink and set it aside.  Some double-sided adhesive was applied to the back of the mermaid panel and I wrapped some clear plastic packaging around the front of panel.  This clear plastic was adhered to the back on three sides, leaving one end open so I could pour some of the Card Bling into the front where the mermaid is.  I initially started with just the three blue colors of bling (seen at the top in the picture), but I was having so much fun, I just kept adding more and more and more of the various colors.  Below are the colors I used:
