Sparkly Dragonfly Day

Good morning!  We had some crazy storms last night and it's a wet, gray morning today.  I need some bright and sparkly goodness to get me going, so I'm sharing this fun card full of glitter and shine using supplies from Technique Junkies.

I started by placing the Airy Dragonflies stencil (A Colorful Life Designs) over some soft blue cardstock.  Next, I spread some Izink Diamond glitter paint all over the stencil.  I used Blue Ciel and Verte Fonce (pale blue and green) glitter paint.  While the paint was drying, I stamped this Day That Sparkles sentiment with a green ink and cut it out with an oval die.  I glued the stenciled panel down to a white card base and then glued the sentiment on top of the glittery dragonflies.

Golden Pinecone Ornament - BYSHC Linky Party

Good morning!  I'm back with another Christmas card to share with the Linky party going on over at the BYSHC blog.  This is a fun way to get started on your Christmas stash before the big holiday rush at the end of the year.  Just make a card (or two, or three!) and link it up on the BYSH Cardmakers blog before the deadline and you might win a prize.

For my card today, I pulled out an older stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called Christmas Trio.  There are three Christmas images on this stencil, so I masked off two of them and placed the pinecone image over some gold cardstock that I had already cut with an ornament die.  I spread some golden brown glitter paste over the pinecone stencil, removed the stencil (and washed it in the sink), and let the paste dry.  Meanwhile, I ran some dark brown cardstock through an embossing folder that has pine branches on it.  I trimmed this piece down and added a cream layer behind this before I glued it to a deep merlot card base.  After my stenciled ornament was dry, I used a red Copic marker to add some color to the berries.  I used some deep merlot silk ribbon to tie a bow around the top of my ornament, and then I adhered the ornament to my card.

Snowflake Flower Christmas - BYSHC Linky Party

Good morning, friends!  My sweet teammate, Von, shared a fun new challenge with me called the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Linky Challenge.  There's some fun prizes from the great sponsors up for grabs, and all you do is make a Christmas/holiday/wintery card and enter it into the challenge.  Well, I love making Christmas cards, so this was an EASY challenge for me!  LOL

I went super clean and simple for my first time playing, and I used a stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  There are several sponsors for this Linky challenge, and A Colorful Life Designs is one of them.  I'm so excited!  I busted out my holiday stencils and picked out this gorgeous Snowflake Flower stencil.  I offset it a bit onto a white card base and taped it down.  Then I spread some glittery turquoise paste over the stencil, peeled it off (and ran to the sink to wash it off), and let the paste on the card dry completely.  Meanwhile, I stamped the sentiment (Hero Arts) with black ink onto a small strip of white cardstock.  After I adhered the sentiment to the card, I trimmed off the edges.  Easy peasy!

Flower Board Birthday Card

Good morning!  Have the flowers started blooming in your area, or do you still have snow hanging around?  Here in Texas, we are definitely seeing signs of spring with all the green grass and green leaves growing on the trees and dandelions popping up here and there.

I pulled out this fun Flower Board stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and placed it over some white cardstock.  I blended some yellow ink diagonally across the top right side first and then I added some coral ink across the bottom left of the stencil.  I glued this stenciled panel to a white card base and then added the die cut sentiment (Spellbinders) to the center.  I also added some Card Bling (a fun freebie with every order from A Colorful Life Designs) in shades of yellow and orange all over the card.

Graphic Lace Hugs

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing this card that I created with the Graphic Lace stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  A few days ago, I shared a blue ombre card with this same stencil, and all I could see was the tie fighters from Star Wars.  On this card, with the pink cardstock and pink stenciling, it looks more like a quilt or an abstract geometrical background.  I added the sentiment (from Taylored Expressions) and some more of that fabulous Card Bling (a great freebie with every A Colorful Life Designs order).  It's interesting how the same stencil can look so different when you change up the colors.

Ombre Tie Fighter Birthday

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing a quick and easy birthday card that would be perfect for a sci-fi geek.  I see you squinting your eyes, wondering what's sci-fi about this card.  Look at that background.  I actually used a stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called Graphic Lace, but when I look at the pattern, I see the Tie Fighters from Star Wars!  LOL

I started by placing the Graphic Lace stencil over a white card base, and then I blended three blue inks (lightest color at the top, darkest color at the bottom) for the ombre look.  I die cut the "handsome" sentiment and shadow and glued them onto the card.  Then I stamped the "Happy Birthday" with the dark blue ink and affixed them to the card with foam tape right above the "handsome" die cut.

Hello Gorgeous Glitter Dots

Good morning!  Today's card is full of glitter and shine to wake you up on this Monday morning.  I love this new sentiment, Hello Gorgeous, from Technique Junkies.  It's the perfect greeting for cards that I want to send to my friends.

I pulled out my well-loved Zebra Dots stencil (A Colorful Life Designs) and taped it over some black cardstock.  Then I pulled out some of the Aladine Izink Diamond glitter paints (Bleu, Rose Peche, Violet) and randomly spread them over the stencil.  While the paint was drying, I stamped the Hello Gorgeous with black ink onto some white cardstock and trimmed it down.  After the stenciled panel was completely dry, I adhered it to a black card base and then glued the sentiment on top.

Mosaic Birthday Arrowhead

Good morning!  My post yesterday featured a bold green chevron card created from the new Big Arrowhead stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  As promised, here is another version of that Big Arrowhead stencil.

I changed the direction of the chevron, and I also used another stencil called Simple Mosaic.  I placed the Big Arrowhead stencil down onto some white cardstock first and taped it in place.  Then I placed the Simple Mosaic stencil on top and taped it down.  I carefully blended some blue ink at the top and some purple ink at the bottom, with a little extra blending where the two colors met in the middle.  Isn't that cool?  The big open spaces of the Big Arrowhead stencil are perfect for pairing with smaller, more detailed stencils like this Simple Mosaic.  

I stamped the birthday sentiment in the white space between blue and purple colors.  This stamp just happened to be the perfect size to fit in that space, and splitting the two words on either side of the chevron helps to define the arrow point.

Big Arrowhead Hello

Good morning!  This new Big Arrowhead stencil from A Colorful Life Designs is a bold and graphic design.  I wanted to see how it would look if I sprayed some color over it, so I placed the stencil over some white cardstock and sprayed some green Dylusions spray over it.  The paper was still wet when I used a paper towel to pick up the stencil, and you can see some of the dotted paper towel texture on the right side.  I thought that was so cool!  

After the stenciled panel dried, I stamped the big bold sentiment right onto the panel and I glued this down to a black card base.  Then I pulled out some of the fun Card Bling (fun freebies with my A Colorful Life Designs orders) and added those around the sentiment.

Gorgeous Glittery Harlequin

Good morning!  I'm back with another card I created with a new Technique Junkies stamp.  I love this Hello Gorgeous sentiment, and you're going to see this a lot this year.  I want to put this sentiment on all the cards I send to my friends.  :-)

I created the background by stenciling some pink ink over the Classic Harlequin stencil (A Colorful Life Designs).  I shifted the stencil and applied a glittery glaze over the top for a 3D look.  While the glaze was drying, I stamped the Hello Gorgeous with black ink and adhered it to a black mat.  I glued the sentiment to the stenciled panel after it was dry and then glued it to a black card base.

Blissed Hello Gorgeous

Good morning!  Technique Junkies has some great new stamps this month, and I've used two of them on this card today.  I stamped the Agapanthus Silhouette with black ink onto the left side of some white cardstock.  This left me with the perfect space to stamp the new Hello Gorgeous sentiment to the right of the flowers.  After the ink was completely dry, I sprayed some Shimmering Bliss over the white cardstock.  The bottom was sprayed with the Vivid Volt Bliss and then I used some Miami Vice Bliss over the top.  Lastly, I added some black pearls and glued this panel to a black card base.

Faded Lines Friend

Good morning!  A Colorful Life Designs has a new stencil release out today, and there's so many fun new designs.  The one that caught my eye immediately was this new Faded Lines stencil.  It's grungy, distress-y, vintage-y and perfect for so many different kinds of projects.

I started off simple and easy by placing the Faded Lines stencil over some kraft cardstock.  I sponged some kraft ink over the stencil, removed the stencil, and then splattered some white paint all over the stenciled background.  I added some die cut flowers and a milk jug (lightly sponged with some kraft ink) and then stamped the sentiment onto the milk jug.  Such a fun, vintage-style card!
