Can't People Today

Good morning!  Today is the "big" day that we've been waiting the past six months for - the total eclipse!  I don't know if we'll actually be able to see it since it may be cloudy, so only time will tell.  I've got my fingers crossed that the clouds part just long enough for us to watch the entire progression of the eclipse.

So while we wait, I thought I'd share a fun card with y'all today.  I pulled out the new Four Squares stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and I placed it at an angle onto a white card.  I wanted a different perspective, so I placed the stencil so that one of the corners was facing down to a point.  Then I brushed some pink, yellow, and blue inks over the stencil, letting the colors fade slightly as I went down the card.  Next, I pulled out the fabulous Not Adulting stencil, placed it so that the sentiment was centered at the bottom of the card and brushed some black ink over the "can't people" sentiment.  I love this snarky stencil!  LOL  Lastly, I added some Satin Matte Gold Card Bling to the ends of the stenciled squares.  How's that for a fun and different look?

Please feel free to use this code, HollyFan10, to save 10% off your entire order (excluding Master Creator Bundles) at A Colorful Life Designs.  The April release has some wonderful geometric stencils and a whole bunch of funny and snarky sentiment stencils.  Don't forget about the Card Bling - you know you need it all.  :-)  Have a wonderful day, and here's hoping we can see the eclipse!!

Seriously Shaker Card

Good morning!  I have a fun shaker card to share with y'all today.  A Colorful Life Designs just released some fabulous new stencils and some gorgeous new colors of Card Bling.  I swooned when I saw the new Card Bling, and I immediately had to pull these out and play with them.  I started by putting a few of the colors together, and they worked so well, I just kept adding colors.  The blues and chocolate browns look awesome together, and I added that little pop of gold from the fifth color.  These colors give me that Egyptian vibe, and I thought the new Pikes stencil would be perfect with these (cuz, ya know, pyramids...).

So, I placed the Pikes stencil over some neutral warm gray cardstock and lightly stenciled a gray ink over the stencil.  I cut some clear plastic slightly larger than the gray panel and taped it to the back on three sides, leaving the top open.  After I poured a little bit of the five colors of Card Bling into the plastic in the front of the gray card, I taped the top of the plastic down on the back.  Look how much Card Bling is still left in the bags after I made this card!

For the sentiment, I placed the Seriously stencil over some white cardstock and brushed some chocolate brown ink over the sentiment. After I removed the stencil, I die cut this sentiment with a stitched rectangle die.  I also cut out a larger stitched rectangle from chocolate brown cardstock and adhered the sentiment to this piece and then I glued this down on my shaker panel. This shaker panel was then adhered to a white card base

The five colors of Card Bling that I used are:

Roll My Eyes Out Loud

Good morning!  A Colorful Life Designs released some new stencils and Card Bling today, and you are in for a treat this month!  There are some fun snarky sentiments and some awesome geometric background designs to play with, and the new colors of Card Bling are soooooo gorgeous.  I pulled out a couple of the new stencils and made this fun card for y'all today.

I placed the new Square to Circle stencil over a white card and brushed on some blue, yellow, and hot pink inks at a diagonal for a fun rainbow look.  Then I placed the Eye Rolling stencil onto some white cardstock and brushed some hot pink ink over the sentiment.  That just cracks me up!  While I was reading this sentiment, I remembered that I have the Tim Holtz birds with the crazy eyes, so I just had to add that to this card.  I stamped the bird with black ink and colored it up with Copic markers to match my stenciled background.  Isn't that fun?

Quick Whirligig Hi

Good morning!  Today I have a quick and easy everyday card that you can whip up in five minutes or less.  I used the Whirligig stencil from A Colorful Life Designs for the background, and it's such a fun stencil.  I placed the first stencil (this is a layered stencil and there are two parts for this one) onto some white cardstock and brushed some lemongrass ink over the entire panel.  Then I removed that stencil, placed down the second stencil, and brushed on some midnight blue ink.  After I removed this second stencil, I adhered my stenciled panel to a midnight blue card base.  The sentiment (Concord and 9th) was die cut from midnight blue cardstock and white cardstock and then glued to a lemongrass circle.  I added the lemongrass circle to a larger white circle and then affixed this to the center of the whirligig.

How's that for a fast card that you can send to anyone?  You can do this in a whole rainbow of different colors and customize this for the person you're sending it to. How about a set of notecards like this with envelopes to give to someone as a gift so they have cards ready to mail?  If you're really ambitious, how about making several sets of these for Christmas gifts??  Yup - thinking about the holidays already and we're just barely starting the spring season!  Hee hee hee!

Please feel free to use this code, HollyFan10, to save 10% off your entire order (excluding Master Creator Bundles) at A Colorful Life Designs.  The March release is full of fabulous stencils and I know you'll want to add this Whirligig stencil to your crafting stash.  The code HollyFan10 will also work on the Card Bling so go ahead and stock up on those gorgeous colors of bling.  Have a great day!

Tulips to a Special Person

Good morning!  I've been busy this week working on scrapbook pages for a month-long class, and it's been a fun challenge.  I've learned some new things and used supplies that I haven't touched for years, so it's been a great new mental exercise for me.

To get back into my comfort zone - card making - I pulled out this gorgeous Layered Tulip Trio stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  I placed the stencil onto a white card and brushed some bright pink ink over the tulip petals first.  Then I removed the stencil and repositioned it so the leaves and stems would line up under my bright pink petals.  I brushed a light green ink over all of the leaves and stems, and then I went back over with a small brush and some darker ink to provide a little shading.  I really didn't want to cover up these gorgeous flowers, so I added a small black sentiment strip that was embossed with white powder (Hero Arts).  Those bold tulip petals make such a striking impact on this card, don't they?

Please feel free to use this code, HollyFan10, to save 10% off your entire order (excluding Master Creator Bundles) at A Colorful Life Designs.  Check out all the great stencils in the March 2024 release and pop this Layered Tulip Trio stencil into your cart.  This code - HollyFan10 - also works on the Card Bling, so stock up on those colors that you have your eye on.  Have a great day!

Happy Birthday Monster

Good morning!  Today I have a fun birthday card using several stencils from A Colorful Life Designs.  I've used three brand new stencils:

I started by taping the TriDot stencil to a mango orange card, and I blended some orange ink over the top half and some red ink on the bottom half.  I used the same orange and red inks to mimic the background ombre with the Monsters stencil onto some white cardstock.  Once I was happy with my ombre blend, I moved the Monsters stencil so I could brush some red ink over the monster for the eyes and the mouth.  After I cut out the monster with a circle die, I went back over the eyes and mouth with a black pen and a white gel pen to add some accents.  I die cut a slightly larger circle from black cardstock and adhered it behind my monster circle.  The Long Happy Birthday stencil was placed at the bottom of my card and I brushed some black ink over the stencil, and then I adhered my monster to the center of the card.

Isn't that cute??  There's so many fun ways you can create these monsters and give them their own personalities!  Please feel free to use this code, HollyFan10, when you shop at A Colorful Life Designs.  You will save 10% off your entire order (excluding Master Creator Bundles) so I hope you have fun shopping!  Have a great week!

Fairies on Mushrooms

Good morning!  Today I have a whimsical little fairy card to share with y'all.  A Colorful Life Designs has a new Mid Month Motivation stencil which is this cute new Mushrooms stencil.  It will be on sale for only $4 until March 22, so be sure to grab it before it goes back to the regular price. This stencil also comes with three little masks that match the three different mushrooms.  I used both the stencil and the matching masks to create a little forest floor of mushrooms on my card, and then I stamped the fairies (Lavinia) and the sentiment (Visible Image) with a dark brown ink.  After I brushed some brown ink around the edges, I added some of the gorgeous Crystal Metallic Calypso Card Bling.  It's hard to describe this Calypso bling - kinda gold, kinda copper, kinda iridescent, very metallic, and very fun to look at!

Feel free to use this code, HollyFan10, to save 10% off (excluding Master Creator Bundles) your entire order at A Colorful Life Designs.  Check out all the great new March stencils and all the swoon-worthy Card Bling colors.  I couldn't help myself - I bought all of the colors of Card Bling cuz I just had to have them all.  Happy Friday!
