Belli Challenge #2

Have you played with your rub ons yet? I dare you to try Chrissy's Belli Challenge #2 this week. Pull out your rub ons and create a card. This card here shows you just how easy it is. There is absolutely NO stamping on this card at all!

Yup, you read right - NO stamping. That is all paper, ribbons, and rub ons!

I created this card using the sketch (TSSC2) found at Technostamper's Blog. Now, since I'm not a foo foo girl, I broke it down and simplified it for my own style. I free-handed the 1/4 circle out of Lilac designer paper, and I noticed that this particular flower rub on matched the paper pretty well. I just cut out a circle big enough for the flower, rubbed it onto the Lilac cs with the popsicle stick (provided with the sheets of rub ons), and peeled off the top paper very carefully. I had to do a little squeal of excitement - it looks so purrrrrrty! Then I thought, hmm, it needs a little sentiment, so I looked on the sheet of black rub ons and found the "just because." Perfect. (With this set of rub ons, you get 4 sheets - white, black, chocolate chip, and old olive.) I just added the little Lilac dots around the circle for a little extra pop, and that's it. Clean and simple!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This card is for Chrissy's Belli Challenge #2. This week we challenge you to create a card using rub ons! They are so much fun, and so easy too. For this card, I cut part of a long strip of rub ons, so it would fit.

All I had to do from then on was use the popsicle stick to rub all over the image, peel the top layer off very carefully, and ta-da! The white rub ons really pop out against a darker color of cardstock.

Saffron Dahlia

There is a technique challenge over on SCS, and today's challenge was to create something with a dahlia fold. Basically you fold circles of paper, arrange them together, and they look like a dahlia flower. Here is my first try, and I kept it clean and simple.

The background stamp is Pretty Pattern Backgrounder, and the "thanks" comes from the Scripty Words set from Cornish Heritage Farms. I found my retired velvet Teal ribbon (from SU) and paired it with a Teal rhinestone brad (also SU) just to have a little pop of color.

You don't want to use a heavy cardstock to make this dahlia flower - it would be very hard to make those tiny little folds. Use a doublesided paper for maximum effect, lightest weight possible for easier folding.

Morning Glory Basket

Don't you just love this new Morning Glory stamp? I printed the template for this basket from my friend's website. Click HERE to go to Debby's blog to get the template. She has an awesome basket posted on her site as well - beautiful!!

It's easy to just copy the template on the paper, and cut it out. I just colored this with watercolor crayons and an aquapainter, and then folded the parts and glued them together. Cut a strip for the handle, punch a hole on either side, and attach with some bling brads. Easy peasy!

I gave this to my grandparents today as a special little thank you for something sweet they did for us earlier this week. I filled it with some purple shredded paper and some chocolate candies. Gramma loved it, and I love it when I can make them smile. :-)

Pomegranate Glitter Flower

I had some leftover cardstock from my stamp camp today, and thought I'd play around with it to create something new. Don't you just love the new Berry Bliss papers? They are just yummy.

I looked around for a sentiment that would fit the pre-cut pink cardstock, and stumbled on this from PaperTrey Ink. Since it would not fit onto the whole piece of cardstock, I decided to have it broken up with ribbon in the middle. It worked out rather well.

To accent the Blessings sentiment, I adhered one of the sticky flowers from Martha Stewart's double sided flora sticker roll, and covered it with a new Stampin Up glitter. This glitter is a deep and rich berry color that matches very closely with the Pomegranate cardstock and ink.

This is a quick and simple card that is totally different from what we made this morning, and I had fun. It's always fun to challenge yourself to create something different using the same materials you already used on another card. Enjoy your weekend!

Belli Challenge #1

Chrissy D has asked me to be part of her new Wednesday Belli Challenge Design Team. Every week, she will have a challenge featuring an embellishment or a special technique. This week she has issued a Belli BEAD Challenge. The easiest way to use beads on a card is to put them in the center of a flower, as I have done on this card here.

You can adhere beads either with a clear drying glue (Tombow Mono Multi is great), or with a very strong double sided tape. I used a small leftover piece of Terrifically Tacky Tape and punched a small circle out of it, placed it on the brown flower, and dumped some pink microbeads onto it. I like to smush the beads into the tape to make sure they are stuck in there really good.

V neck card

This is also called a criss cross card. It's much easier than it looks, and lots of fun to put together. For this card, I stamped the large flower from Embrace Life onto white cardstock, then watercolored it with Groovy Guava ink. The lines got a little faded during the watercoloring, so I went back over them with a Cameo Coral marker to define it better. All the supplies listed below are from Stampin Up!:

If I would have had some Guava ribbon, I would have put that around the band that goes around the card. Another item for my growing Stampin Up "to buy" list! LOL
