PTI Pink Sunrise Birthday

I didn't have much time after work tonight to put this card together, so it's very plain and simple. I liked the colors in Dawn's color palette on Nichole's blog today, so I picked that one to work with. I don't have all the PTI colors, so I tried to pick some colors that came close to what was in the palette.

Dawn's colors were Raspberry Fizz, Hibiscus Burst, Summer Sunrise, and Dark Chocolate. The only color I have here is the Dark Chocolate (ink, cardstock, and ribbon). I used Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, and Summer Sun for my substitute colors. There's no real trick to making this card - just sponge the color on, then stamp the silhouette flowers with the dark brown ink. Silhouette stamps are a passion of mine - I'm always on the lookout for gorgeous silhouettes. These are from PTI's Life stamp set, and I admit, this is probably the first time I have inked it up! Ack! Bad PTI-er!

Now I have to go take care of some laundry and see if I can find some chocolate stashed around here somewhere. :-) Happy stamping!

PTI Paint by Numbers sketch

Let me tell you how my morning began. I woke up and checked out the newest posting on Nichole's blog, and saw the Paint by Numbers sketch. Since my username begins with an "h" that meant I would have to use the second color palette, and my first reaction was ICK. Orange is NOT one of my favorite colors, and this palette just turned me off.

I started thinking, hmmmm, "I could change my username!" The more I thought, the more determined I was to just let this go and not do this challenge at all. This silly thing nagged at me all day long at work, and I had finally managed to forget about it by the time I ate supper and watched a cake decorating challenge on tv.

Then I walked back into my studio, and there it was, taunting me. I could hear this challenge teasing me, calling me chicken, and finally I gave in. It is supposed to be a CHALLENGE, right? So I sat down and forced myself to work on this.

I don't have all the PTI colors, so I tried to come as close as I could. I did have the Ripe Avocado inkpad and cardstock, so I used those, as well as this sentiment from my Vintage Picnic set. All the other colors are Stampin Up colors that I thought came very close to the PTI colors. I know it's not a card you would have EVER thought I would make, but I had to follow the rules, ya know? LOL

Here is my sweet little Easter basket made from the Basket with Handle die cut. This reminds me of the cute little baskets my mom gets me every year - yes, she still gives me an Easter basket every year. LOL She always has a cute little stuffed Easter bunny and lots of yummy candy in the basket. I did something a little bit different by placing one of my precious stone eggs in this basket. The egg is pure alabaster, and I love how this looks in this sweet little pink basket.




My next project is something that would be fun to give to a kid. I used the Butterfly Box die cut to create a cute little bunny and egg scene. This is the top view of the box - the handles lock together and look like a butterfly.



On this side, you see the boy bunny looking at the eggs.



On this side, you see the girl bunny with the bow on her ears and tiny butterflies flitting around.



Wouldn't a kid love to open this box and find it full of Easter candy? Mmmmm!

Botanical Bliss Squares

I created this card for a contest over in the Technique Junkies yahoo group. We were required to use this particular sketch and to use at least two or more techniques from the TJ newsletters. So I pulled out my stamps and inks and tried to figure out what I was going to do.

I used the Watercolor Distress technique on the two green squares with the dragonflies, and I simply embossed the two vanilla squares (no technique). For the pink squares, I used a new technique called Dabbed Shimmers, and I think this is going to be my new favorite technique. All the stamps are from Cornish Heritage Farms. I combined the gorgeous Botanical Bliss set with the French Script backgrounder, and the sentiment is from Friend Centers. It may look like it took a week to make this card, but I actually put it all together in just a couple of hours. This is just a fun paper-pieced card I put together Monday night. I just started pulling out papers and stamps and I had a blast cutting all the different things. Why don't you pull out some designer papers and start stamping some images on them? Just cut them out and put them down on a card and see what happens! You might surprise yourself. :-)

Almost all of the stamps in the Kim Hughes line at Cornish Heritage Farms are just perfect for paper piecing. My favorite sets are the seasonal trees - Spring Trees, Summer Trees, Autumn Trees, and Winter Trees. Just stay tuned over the upcoming months. You might see a "few" more cards using these tree sets. ;-)

Belli Challenge #84 - ribbon with SNSS

Today's Belli Challenge is all about using ribbon on your cards and projects. Our sponsor this week is Sweet N Sassy Stamps, and they provided the Belli Girls with two different digital stamps to play with. I chose to use the new Benjamin Bunny image for my card.

Instead of coloring the bunny, I wanted to give him a soft fluffy 3D feel. So I first colored his nose and ears and the pads of his feet with a pink Copic marker, and then I covered him with Flower Soft glue and Ivory Flower Soft. It reminds me of a big soft fluffy stuffed bunny like the ones my Mom gives me every year for Easter. I have quite a collection. :-)

New CHF release today - Glory of Easter

Today over at Cornish Heritage Farms a new set has been released. This one is called Glory of Easter, and it is a gorgeous set illustrated by Tom Allen. Wanna see more samples? Check out the gallery HERE for some more cards with this set.

I stamped the lilies and colored the leaves with copic markers. Then I stamped the lilies again and cut out just the white flowers, and then popped them up on top of the first stamped image. I wanted the lilies to have a little depth just like real flowers.

The vase was created from an oval die cut from the same designer paper that you see in the background. I cut a tiny bit off the bottom of the oval, and then cut off about the top third of the oval. The edges were a little too white so I sponged the edges with some brown ink.

I stamped the Weave backgrounder on the Kraft card base as well as on the circle with the lilies. It's a very soft and muted texture to bring out the softness of this card.
