Velvet Glitter Valentine Card

Hi friends!  Have you seen the new Velvet glitters in the Classy Cards 'n Such store? Oh my goodness, they are GORGEOUS! I've used the Orchid Rose velvet glitter on this card here.

I started by pulling some papers out of the Love Letters 6x6 paper pad, just mixing and matching until they were just right. I cut the papers and adhered them to a black cardstock layer. For the bottom, I die cut one of the solid beige papers (from the same Love Letters pad) with the Lady Kate Edger (Cheery Lynn Designs) and adhered it below the pink paper. I then stamped the sentiment from Hugs and Kisses Sentiments (JustRite) with black ink directly onto the pink paper.

Now the fun started! I adhered two strips of 1/4" wide Scor Tape above and below the sentiment. After I removed the liner, I covered both strips of tape with the Orchid Rose velvet glitter. I used the Glitter Roll technique from Technique Junkies (6/11 issue) to make sure the glitter was well adhered and then I brushed off the excess. This Orchid Rose glitter is a perfect match with the colors in this Love Letters paper pad.

Next, I cut the Vintage Apothecary Jar from vanilla cardstock and set it down. I then used a small heart punch from my stash and punched out several hearts from the Love Letters papers. I then adhered the hearts to the "inside" of the jar and then affixed the jar to the card with some Joy Foam Pads. Then I glued this entire card front down onto a vanilla card base.

This glitter is just awesome. It's so fine and so soft, it really does feel like velvet! I can't wait to try out the other colors!!! Banner Card with Border Dies

Hi folks, it's Holly posting today. Did you see that Classy Cards 'n Such has a new challenge this week? Yup, we'll have a new challenge every week and I hope you'll play along with us. This week, pull out your border dies to create something and share it with us. We'd love to see what you've been doing with your border dies.

I used two border dies on my card. Look just below the ribbon - see the green border die and the pink border die? I used those to mark a separation between the banners and the patterned paper at the top. The following products were used on this card:

Anastasia Border die (Cheery Lynn Designs) - the pink border on my card
Ankara Lace Border die (Cheery Lynn Designs) - the green border on my card
Love Letters 6x6 paper pad
Picking Wildflowers stamp set (Flourishes)
Chalk White Seam Binding
Joy Foam Pads (behind the sentiment)

New Challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such

Winter White card

Hi friends!  I hope you are all staying warm during this arctic blast.  It just blew through Texas and now it is freezing cold here.  Our forecast says it will be 17 degrees tomorrow morning and 13 degrees on Tuesday morning.  BRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!  That's too cold for Texas!!!

I checked out the challenge on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog and today's challenge is Winter Whites.  How appropriate is that for today???  :-)  So I used white papers and white ribbons for this card, essentially doing the White on White technique from the Technique Junkies Emboss or Die CD.  The dies I used on my card are all from Cheery Lynn Designs. I cut out the following dies:

French Pastry Doily
Francesca border
Holly Lace Flourish
Wheat Heads
Shasta Daisy Strip

I started with a white card base and glued the French Pastry Doily down. Then I glued a strip of the Francesca border die at the bottom of the card (kind of hard to see with all the ribbon, but it's there). Some white satin ribbon was wrapped around the card and I tied additional pieces of ribbon in place for a fun and flirty accent.

I glued the Shasta Daisy flower petals together and added a rhinestone brad to the center, and then I glued this down on top of my ribbon. Then I carefully tucked in the Holly Lace Flourishes and the Wheat Heads here and there until I was satisfied with the arrangement.

Good morning!  I created this card for the "Something New" challenge over on the Sweet Stamps blog.  I was their guest designer for the past month, and this is my last card for them.  I've had a great time designing with their beautiful stamps and playing in their challenges.  Go check out my post over there and play along with the challenges!  :-)

Daisy Glitter Stripes

Hi friends!  Happy New Year!!!!  I hope you all had a wonderful time watching the ball drop.  Unfortunately, I didn't last that long - my eyes were closed by 10:30pm on New Year's Eve!  LOL

The other day, I was itching to pull out some glitters and play, so here's what I came up with.  Isn't that fun?? I had such a blast making this card. First, I cut a layer of white cardstock and then laid down some strips of 1/4" wide Scor Tape. After I pulled off the protective papers, I remembered to turn my ceiling fan off BEFORE I opened the jar of glitter. LOL!! With the fan safely off, I opened the Misty Blue glitter and sprinkled it all over the exposed tape. I then did the Glitter Roll technique (6/11 issue) from Technique Junkies to make sure all my glitter was pressed down and then I shook off the excess glitter.

I stamped the sentiment from Anytime Sentiments (Impression Obsession) with black ink and then adhered this white glittery layer to a black card base. Next, I cut some white cardstock with the Shasta Daisy Strip die (Cheery Lynn Designs) and adhered the layers of flower petals together. I glued a yellow button to the center and then glued the daisy down onto my card where the lines of glitter intersect.

Such a FUN card to make, I tell ya! I have a feeling I'm going to spend this weekend making more cards like this with different colors of glitter and different flowers and sentiments. Are you going to make a card similar to this one? I'd love to see what you create! :-)
