Peace Ornament

I love making Christmas ornaments, and this one is so easy with these great products from Classy Cards 'n Such. For easy reference, here are the items I used:

Heirloom Ornament 2011 die (Spellbinders) - out of stock but you can email the owner and ask her to order it for you
Handmade Holiday 6x6 paper pad (Simple Stories)
Festive Berries distress ink pad (part of the Winter 2011 ink collection) - these are on sale!!
Holly Leaves die (Cheery Lynn Designs)
Parker Upper alphabet die
Anastasia border die (Cheery Lynn Designs)
Red Pearls
Chalk White seam binding

I started by cutting a piece of the Handmade Holiday paper with the largest ornament die, and I cut another piece from cardstock. I glued the paper die to the cardstock die just to give it a little strength. Using a handheld hole punch, I punched a hole at the top and threaded some seam binding through and tied it in a knot.

Next, I die cut the letters and the Anastasia border two times from white cardstock. I adhered the letters to a strip of green cardstock and set it aside. I cut a strip of white cardstock to layer behind my green strip, but since I wanted it to be red, I smooshed my Festive Berries ink pad all over the white cardstock. Once this was dry, I adhered the green strip to my now-red strip, and then I adhered the white Anastasia borders to the top and bottom edges behind the entire strip. I placed this strip onto my ornament and cut away the excess on each side and glued it down onto my ornament.

The last thing I did was die cut the holly leaves, adhered them near the top of the ornament, and placed a single red pearl in the center of the leaves. This ornament turned out just like I envisioned it! Love it when that happens!  You can order any of the items listed above from Classy Cards 'n Such right now, and by using this code when checking out, Holly-10, you can save 10% off your order.

It just occurred to me that you could make this same ornament but personalize it for the person you're giving it to. Put that person's name in place of "PEACE" or even the last name of the family you're gifting it to - wouldn't that be a wonderful gift? Happy Holidays!!

I'm entering this into the following challenges:
SJ Crafts - Christmas
Sketchy Colors #142 - White, Red, Green colors
