Belli Challenge #91 - hole punches

Welcome to Belli Challenge #91! Our challenge this week is to use hole punches. You could find your old punches that you used for setting eyelets way back when, you could punch tiny holes with a needle/pin/thumbtack for paper piercing, or you can use regular handheld punches to make holes for your brads to slip into. I chose to use my 1/16" handheld punch so I could add some brads to my card.

The image is colored with Copic markers, and I used some retired Stampin Up holiday papers in the background. The sentiment has some brads on each side, and I also added some brads underneath the sentiment after punching the holes with my handheld hole punch. I used the TESC112 sketch from Taylored Expressions - perfect for the image and for adding some hole punches to my card!

Buzzing By scenic card

I stumbled onto this challenge over at the Embellish blog. We have to use four colors (seafoam, terra cotta, green, and brown) and dimensionals on our projects. With that in mind, I pulled out my gorgeous silhouette weed stamps from Rubbernecker and started stamping them all over a sheet of vanilla cardstock.

The weeds needed something buzzing around them, so I pulled out my Bee-Mail set from Renaissance by Design and added some bees to the scene. Once I was sure the brown ink was dry, I sponged the terra cotta, green, and blue inks onto the cardstock. Not knowing what "seafoam" was, I opted to use my Bermuda Bay ink from Stampin Up. It was the closest match to the color on the challenge blog. :-)

For my dimensional requirement, I stamped the sentiment (also from Bee-Mail) and cut it out with an oval Nestabilities shape. While it was still in the die, I sponged some blue and green ink very lightly around the edges. There are dimensionals on the back of this sentiment so it pops up off the scene.

To be honest, I never would have put these colors together, much less used them, if it wasn't for this challenge. Now that I've created this card, I love how this came together. I kept this card embellishment-free so that it will be easy to mail. Gotta love those mail-able cards!! :-)

Gypsy Tiles

Lisa issued a fun inchie challenge over on the Inchie Inklings blog, so of course, I had to give this one a shot. It was easy and fun to put this together. The only hard part is having the patience to line up all these tiles just right. I tried the ruler trick that Lisa shared, but it just confused me even more.

Here's the little trick that I figured out. By sheer luck, for my background I chose a patterned paper that had tiny little rows of dots on it. I used these dots to help me line up all my tiles. :-) So that's my tip for the day - if you want to try this sketch, be sure to pick a background paper that has rows of something (lines, dots, words, etc...) to help you line up all the inchie tiles.

QKR - Flower Pot Girl

It is in the 90's here in Texas and some of you folks up yonder are getting snow this week??? Crazy weather, I tell ya!!! LOL

We planted some flowers last week and this sweet image from QKR Stampede reminds me of the fun we had putting the flowers into the pots and setting them up by my front door. The name of this image is "Planting a Flower" - appropriate, huh?? I picked my papers first and then colored the image with Copic markers so that they matched the colors in the papers.

You could use this adorable image for a birthday card or a Mother's Day card or even a "just a note" type of card. Wouldn't it be fun to give this card away with some potted flowers to a dear friend or neighbor? I love to use images like this that can be used for so many different types of cards.
