Shimmery Butterfly Dreams

Remember last week when I shared a distressed collaged butterfly card that I stamped with black soot distress oxide ink?  I'm back this week to share another one but the process of creating this one is very different.  Last week, I started with an inky background paper.  Today, I started with a white sheet of paper.

I stamped the Butterfly Flourish Collage from Technique Junkies with Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink onto some white cardstock.  Instead of letting the ink dry, I immediately sprayed the stamped piece with Golden Olivine and Mixed Metal Shimmering Bliss sprays.  Because I sprayed right away, I was able to catch some of the oxide ink before it dried, and the sprays helped the black ink fade out and bleed a little bit around the edges of the stamped butterfly.  If you're going for a distressed look, this is perfect!  As a bonus, I was able to get a shimmery and distressed look - love that!!

Beyond the Blue #25 - Joy Shaker Ornament

 Hi friends!  This week's Beyond the Blue challenge is Anything But a Card.  So for my Beyond the Blue #25 project today, I made a shaker ornament.  See those sequins in the center of the ornament?  When you "shake" the ornament, those sequins get shaken up.  It's a fun interactive ornament.

Lost Without You

Good morning!  I'm back to share a distressed collage-style card with y'all today.  I had been playing around with some watercolor inks and there was some ink left over on my craft mat.  Instead of wiping it off with a paper towel and tossing it, I smooshed some white cardstock all over it until most of the ink was on the paper.  I set it aside to dry and this gorgeous background is what I got.  

I inked up the new Butterfly Flourish Collage stamp from Technique Junkies with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink and stamped it right onto that smooshed ink background.  This distress oxide ink dries a bit lighter than what you see with the regular distress inks.  So when this background was completely dry, it looked perfect with that distress-y background.  Instead of a dark bold black, it's more like a faded black or dark grey color over those blues and grays and pops of red.  It's just stunning with a vintage, distress, collage-style stamp.  I used the same Black Soot Distress Oxide ink to stamp the sentiment from the Lighthouse Sentiments set.

Amazing Glittery Fans

 This card makes my glitter-loving heart SO happy!  I had so much fun creating this card with the Fan Party stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and some glitter paint.  I spread three different colors of glitter paint through the stencil and let it dry.  The colors were a lime green, a turquoise, and a pale blue.  The sparkle is just amazing!  The sentiment is from Ink Blot Shop's Solid Sayings set.  :-)

Shimmery Zen Vibes

Good morning!  I'm back with another Technique Junkies card today.  This time, I stamped the gorgeous new Flowing Zen and the new Mermaid Vibes with some blue ink and then I sprayed both pieces with the Dazzle Shimmering Bliss Topper spray.  There is a gorgeous glittery shimmer all over this card!  Hopefully you can see a bit of the shimmer that I tried to capture with my camera.

Vintage Vines

Good morning! I'm popping in with a vintage-style mini slimline card that I made with the new Twirly Vines stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. I brushed some soft blue ink through the stencil right onto some text-printed paper. Then I flicked some brown ink all over for that vintage look. I used the same brown ink to color the seam binding and I let that dry before I wrapped it around the card and tied it into a shabby bow.

Lighthouse in Storm

Good morning!  Today is the 4th of July, so I have a card with patriotic colors on it to share with you today.  I used the new Lighthouses stamp from Technique Junkies and I stamped it on watercolor paper.  I wanted to have a halo of light around the top of each lighthouse, so I painted yellow halos with watercolor paint, and then I added the red paint to each of the lighthouses.  After the yellow and red paints were completely dry, I added in the dark blue paint.  The sentiment is from the new Lighthouse Sentiments set (also from Technique Junkies), and it is the perfect sentiment for my stormy lighthouse background.

Beyond the Blue #22 - Let's Glaze

 

Happy Friday!  This week's Beyond the Blue challenge is to use glaze on your card or project.  There's all kinds of glazes out there, some with glitter, some with transparent colors, and some with ombre colors like I've done here.  I used the brand new Fan Party stencil from A Colorful Life Designs with some purple ombre paper glaze to make this clean and simple card.  I love the progression from light purple to dark purple.

I thought I'd show you a little picture of all of the new July stamps. Aren't they awesome?

For my first card today, I used the beautiful new Flowing Zen stamp as a background for a shaker card. The sentiment is the new Beach Happy stamp.

On my second card, I embossed the new Mornin' on the Farm stamp onto some watercolor paper and then used some watercolor paints to color in this great scene.  The sentiment is from the new Lighthouse Sentiments set.

My third card today also uses a sentiment from the Lighthouse Sentiments set.  I embossed the sentiment with white powder and then brushed some dark blue ink over most of my background.  Then I adhered a lighter blue "lake" and a dark green "hill" to the bottom of the card.  I stamped just a portion of the Lighthouses stamp, colored one of the lighthouses with Copic markers, and then cut it out.  I placed this lighthouse on my hill and used a yellow marker to cast some beams of light out into the darkness.  I added some white stars with a white gel pen for that final touch.
