For my projects today, I used two very different techniques. The first one is the gorgeous Pearl Outlines technique. I love the beautiful shimmer of this technique. The background stamp is an old retired Stampin Up stamp and the sentiment is from a wonderful stamp company, Art Neko.

For my second project, I used the fun Watered Dylusions technique.  If you've ever used Dylusions sprays, you know how much fun they are, and this background technique is a perfect example of that.  The background stamp that I used on this card is from Impression Obsession.

Peaceful Music

Have you played in our Music challenge over on the Classy Cards 'n Such blog yet? Dig out your old sheet music, die cut some musical notes, or pull out a music background stamp and show us what you can create!

For my card today, I pulled out the Shabby Music Background stamp from JustRite and stamped it with a pale gray ink onto some vanilla cardstock. I sponged the edges with the same gray ink, and then again with some eggplant ink. Next, I stamped the gorgeous Worn Rose Branch with the eggplant ink. However, I used a little trick when stamping the rose branch. Instead of inking and stamping, I inked up the stamp, then pressed the ink onto some scratch paper first. Then I pressed the stamp onto my music paper. This gives me a faded and much softer image, which is exactly what I wanted. I repeated this two more times to fill in the space around the bottom.

The sentiment, from With Sympathy (JustRite), was stamped with eggplant ink and this time I stamped it directly from the ink pad. You can see the difference in the full ink stamping of the sentiment versus the stamped-off ink from the rose branches.

I wanted to keep this card flat and mail-able, but I also wanted to add a little lace to my card. I cut off the top right corner of my music paper and put down a strip of the 1/8" Scor Tape across the edge of the cut-off corner. A small length of Ecru Delight Lace was laid down onto the Scor Tape.

To fill in the naked corner, I cut out one of the corner dies from Lace Corner Deco F (Cheery Lynn Designs) from eggplant cardstock. This corner piece was glued to the corner of the vanilla cardstock layer. I then adhered my music paper to the vanilla layer, and then I glued the whole piece to an eggplant card base.

I hope you play along with our Music challenge. I'd love to see how you use music on your projects!  You can save some money when you go shopping at Classy Cards 'n Such - simply enter this code, Holly-10, when you check out.  I love helping you save money!  :-)

Flower Box Scene

Hi friends! Have you played in the Die Cuts challenge with us? I was inspired to pull out some dies from Memory Box, Poppystamps, and Impression Obsession to create this scene for y'all.

I started by stamping the Distressed Brick background (Impression Obsession) onto Kraft cardstock, and I lightly sponged the edges for a finished look. Next, I cut out the following:

Small Madison Window - Poppystamps
Small Madison Shutter - Poppystamps
Small Madison Flower Box - Poppystamps
Flower Mound - Memory Box
Leaf Cluster - Impression Obsession

I cut a small rectangle from the striped paper in The Lake House paper pad and glued it behind the window. This is the "wallpaper" that you see inside the "house" of the window you are looking through. I then adhered the window to the center of my stamped brick wall. The shutters were adhered to each side of the window. I applied some Joy Foam Pads to the Flower Box and adhered it at the bottom of the window.

The flowers were shaped with the stylus from the Paper Blossoms Tool Kit and the Paper Blossoms Craft Molding Mat. I randomly glued down the leaves and the flowers behind the flower box. Some Baby Bling White Pearls were affixed to the centers of the larger flowers. This brick wall piece was adhered to a white layer and then to a pink card base.

These Memory Box and Poppystamps dies make it so easy to create fun scenes for your cards and scrapbook layouts! I had a wonderful time putting this card together, and I love the spring-time feel of this card!  Be sure to use this code, Holly-10, when you check out at Classy Cards 'n Such.  You'll save 10% off your entire order.

Pink Bike

I have a whimsical card to share with you, and I have to admit, the pink bike just makes me smile! :-)  I started this card with a Kraft card base and I added a layer of green gingham paper from the Prairie Chic 6x6 paper pad. Next, I cut another sheet of paper from the same pad, but the pattern was a bit too busy. What to do?

I pulled out the Texture Mesh stencil and laid it over the multicolored paper. Then I applied some white embossing paste to the holes in the stencil with a Palette Knife. As soon as I was done, I peeled the stencil off and immediately washed the stencil and palette knife. I set the stenciled paper aside to dry completely for an hour.

While that was drying, I cut out the Brand New Bicycle die with pink paper. I also stamped the sentiment from the Sweet Wishes set (Stampavie) onto Kraft cardstock, and then I cut out the notches on both sides with scissors.

When the stenciled paper was dry, I very lightly dabbed some pink ink randomly over the dry embossing paste. I then adhered this to my card, added a dark blue strip (also from the Prairie Chic pad), adhered the sentiment, and then adhered the pink bike above the sentiment.

I love how you can still see the patterned paper through the white embossing paste, but it is muted and toned down. This also gives the card a great texture without being overwhelming.

You can order the bicycle die as well as the stamp set and papers from Classy Cards 'n Such.  Use this code, Holly-10, to save 10% off your order when you check out at Classy Cards 'n Such.  I'm entering this fun card into the following challenges:

Girl in Orchid

Pantone has declared this to be the year of Radiant Orchid, and I had that color in my head when I colored this adorable Sarah Kay image called Winter Warmth.

I started by stamping this sweet Winter Warmth (Stampavie) onto white cardstock, and then I colored it with Copic markers. I then cut it out with an oval die and matted it with a white scallop oval. This image was adhered to a white card base with Joy Foam Pads.

I decided to go with a White on White technique from Technique Junkies, so I added the die cut Lace Corner Deco F (Cheery Lynn Designs) pieces in the corners. Some sweet little Baby Bling White Pearls were added to the lacy corner pieces.

I love these sweet Sarah Kay stamps. There's still a few of these left in the store, so check them out here and grab 'em while you can. :-)  Be sure to use this code, Holly-10, to save 10% off your order while you are shopping at Classy Cards 'n Such.  I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

I tried something new today - just for fun.  My friend Shar has a tutorial over on her blog for these Quilted Tiles, and I just had to try it out.  It's really easy and a lot of fun.  I used the Floriculture stamp set from Rogue Redhead Designs for my card today.  This stamp set is on sale til the end of the month, so buy it while it's cheap!

Feel like trying something new?  Give this Quilted Tiles technique a shot and enter it into the challenge on Shar's blog here.  I'd love to see what you do with your Quilted Tiles background!  :-)

Enjoy your weekend.  Monday is coming all too soon!

Herringbone Bunnies

Hi friends!  I am the guest hostess over on the Rogue Redhead Designs blog for the March challenge for the Holiday Inspiration Club.  This month I'm asking you to make your own backgrounds for your holiday cards.

You can make any kind of background.  Try a new technique, stamp with a background stamp, arrange designer papers into a pattern, whatever you come up with!  I've got four cards over on the Rogue Redhead Designs blog, each with a different background, so check them out and let them inspire you.  I'll share all of those cards here on my blog throughout the month.

For my card today, I used the Herringbone technique from Technique Junkies.  This is a great way to use up small strips of patterned papers.  The adorable bunnies and the sentiment are from A Winter's Tale, available from Rogue Redhead Designs.  The bunnies were colored with Copic markers.  I kept the card clean and simple so the background would shine through and so this would be a flat and mail-able card.

Come and play along in this challenge!  You can make any kind of holiday card - Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, whatever you want.  If you have any Rogue Redhead Designs stamps, we'd love to see what you create with them, but you are not required to use them for this challenge.  :-)
